The women's 400m hurdles is arguably the most unapologetic event in track & field today. Shamier Little is the 5th fastest hurdler of all-time, but numbers 1-3 are still competing at a high level, with two of the three in their prime. Muhammad is such a savvy vet that when she's healthy, she's TOUGH to beat. I would really like to see Shamier put it all together this year. I believe the US team will be Muhammad, Wilson, and Little. My dark horse would be Ana Cockrell. I also feel that Wilson will put together a race this season between 51.8 - 52.5.

Completely agree. 5 years ago theres no way we could have imagined the 400mH being in the state it is now. But Im so glad we all get to witness this. But I have that same team, Muhammad, Wilson and Little. Muhammad seems to find a way to do what she need to do when it counts. I still find it amazing that in Tokyo she led off hurdle 10 in the final, and ran 51.58 behind McLaughlin. That was almost half a second faster than the 51.90 from Trials. Obviously McLaughlin won and now has run 50.68, but Muhammad's last 2 years have been underrated IMO. I think Little, Bolt and Wilson will all get under 52 seconds this year. Bol could break 51 (but still lose which is crazy!)

@@TheFinalLeg McLaughlin is focusing on the flat 400m this season if I'm correct? Your point on Muhammad's last two seasons reinforces my point about the event being unapologetic. The entire enclave that trains with Hurdle Dynamics looks FIT. Muhammad, Cockrell, Precious Holmes, etc. I'm excited about this track season.

@@gazzelle4 I think Sydney is leaving the door open on what she will do and not let anyone know yet. She could do the 400m at USAs, but we wont know until after if she plans to run that at World Championships. So could still be her vs the clock in the hurdles.

Thank YOU!!! Shamier is one of my favorites. I just want her to win at all The things. Really wanted to know how she felt after the Olympic trials 4th place finish after being so close. I damn near cried when she hit that hurdle. Hope this truly is her year. It’s about damn time.

Following on from her good performances in the indoor season, was good to see Shamier kick off her outdoor season last weekend with her 5th fastest time in the 400m & fastest time since August '21. She can take at least 0.2s off both 49.91/52.39 PBs given how well she's started the season and the need to make those improvements given how well the competition in Femke & Britton have looked already this season! With Syd's Bye, it should be Shamier, Britton & Dalilah (depending on fitness) Top 3 @USAs as I don't think the improving Anna Cockrell & Anna Hall are quite there yet. With Athing's WC 800m Final schedule getting in the way again, and if she can can get back into sub 50s shape with hopefully a new 400m PB, would love to see Shamier in the relay pool alongside Syd, Britton, Abby, Talitha & possibly Dalilah as it'd be nice to see her finally run on a US 4x4 Team at a Global Champs!

I honestly think Little and Wilson will go sub 52 this year, while Bol will go sub 51...but still lose to Sydney, its that crazy. Imagine someone runs 51.9 and finishes 4th in Budapest! Is there anyone else who is a rising star and threat to go into the 52's? I agree Cockrell and Hall are not there yet. Any of the Jamaicans? Clayton, Knight, Russell? not sure about them yet either, maybe one can get to 52 high. And agree with Little on that 4x4. Even if its just getting into the prelims, would love to see her run.

Shaping up to be a good battle between the JAM contingent of Russell, Clayton, Knight & Salmon for the 3 spots @JAM Trials and then to see who runs sub 53s first with Russell the most likely! Fingers crossed Shamier makes the relay pool!

And Femke doing all this preperation to get in the picture must be HUNGRY, so if she is that close where she is right there, who is to say that the drive in her won't rise and make her actually be able to beat Sydney? Oh, but we also have that Sydney will focus on 400m Flat this year so Bol won't have no one to chase, it'll be all on her own.

I learned that even if you're a 3 time NCAA champion your confidence doesnt come from accolades. Its probably better you don't even think too much about it until you retire. The score takes care of itself.
