This Ash dude must be insanely strong. He's like twice the weight of some of the others and still nails pretty much every exercise.

He has a really good feeling for his body and movement it. But I guess the tall guy comes close to his weight. And I think he got the disadvantage of his feet being very close to the ground for every swing at the bar

Ash is genuinely impressive: big guy with immense strength, pressing to handstand on top of high bar, great stuff.

Something that really sat with me after this video. Is that Nile wants to do his best and puts his all into it no matter the challenge. I've read his book. To hear him say to himself "You got this Nile" and know thats exactly how he approached the apparatuses at the Olympics. Just felt different. Take no prisoners and give life , and everyday your all. No matter how momentous/ big or small the task is.

As an ex-gymnast who quit gymnastics due to back injury and couldn't handle the pain of rips anymore, it's indescribable how insanely strong these athletes are. How they continue to do stuff like this after ripping is so fucking impressive to me. Maybe I was a baby but jesus fuck it hurt so much to even touch anything, let alone swing.

I was a contemporary dancer (and were typically in bare feet), and I would rip the soles of my feet and toes CONSTANTLY. I remember it not bothering me at all then, but nowadays when I get even a blister in the same places it’s incredibly painful and distracting. I have a theory that your body starts to adapt to certain pains and maybe even that your brain stops sending the pain signals to you if you get a minor injury so often that your brain has been “taught” it doesn’t need to concern itself with notifying you of the pain anymore lol.
