The thing that makes judo/sambo throws so effective in MMA is that they take little to no energy compared to grinding a double leg
@Tikimohn2 жыл бұрын
Not always true... some of these throws took a good bit of energy and power to do. It's definitely overlooked in MMA tho, if you can land a big slam on someone you're almost garunteed a W because its so shocking like he says in the beginning.
@panosts61782 жыл бұрын
@@Tikimohn guys like Khabib and Islam always default to judo/sambo throws when they face a good anti-wrestler. A takedown is always going to be hard if your opponent resists. A trip is very easy and low energy to do and it either works or it doesn't. 0 grind

@@Tikimohn its all about timing.. if you time a double leg perfect, it is easy. If you time a judo throw perfect, its easy. Sambo wrestling is scary the pressure and not having your control of your own hands Well a 170 pound person feels like 400 pounds laying on you . And you can't see cause his body over your head then your getting punch in the face through the gaps And your helpless even if your a top fighter . I can't imagine how Conor with his ego felt Khabib getting heavier and heavier Or Charles against Islam Being ragdoll as a pro gotta be scary I can't imagine us regular folks trying to fight these guys. I'd rather get knockout. Then ragdolled thrown around and suffocating for 15min

@@haydenglendenning4305 Correct. Combat sambo is in essence MMA. I actually have seen some techniques from combat sambo that I haven't seen even in MMA yet, but have no doubt we will see in the future. Allowed are All Punches All Elbows All Knees All Kicks All Chokes and Jointlocks All Throws, Holds and Pins (Plus Soccerkicks, Headbutts and Groinstrikes) And you have to be extra carefull because besides KO/TKO, Submission and Decision you can also lose via Ippon or Dominance (8 Point difference) Another Thing is that if you want to groundgrapple with your opponent, you have to take him down by force via throw, trip or Takedown. I've done judo my whole life and I can't figure out why more judo throws aren't used in the clinch. You see it in Sambo practitioners, but it doesn't seem to be something most people even think about. Maybe it's just not taught, and judo throws can be complicated to teach someone who isn't used to moving like that. It also took me a bit to adapt my judo to wrestling when I started wrestling, but once I did it was deadly. Idk, I just think there's a lot of opportunity for judo to be used more in mma.

@@HEagle72 What? I don't know about you but I find hip throws, trips, and other "Judo style" techniques less cardio intensive than shooting for a single or double. I think it's just generally a less explosive series of movements and you don't have to rapidly change levels to do them.
@HEagle722 жыл бұрын
@@justalurker3489 i know, im saying because ppl are now better at defending, what previously wasn't as energy enducing, now may be which is why less fighters are doing it. Truth is because 90% of the best gyms in the world are based in the US with fighters who have a fantastic background in Collegiate wrestling. If you are not coming from the US or Russia, your country probably does not have a combat sports programme offered to kids in school that involves wrestling. China has a sanda-based programme that is showing some promise but the grappling is made-up by sending their athletes to Team Alpha Male in the US. It's a massive shame, more countries should be providing these opportunities to their youths but alot of these countries fear their people learning how to fight 🤷🏼♀️
