Olympics 2024 Men's Volleyball - France Gold Medal Moment

This medal truly felt special for them. In Tokyo, they won but they were alone. No public, no family. The victory was great but bittersweet. Here everyone was supporting them, some of them are dads and their kids were watching them from the stands. You just can’t imagine the emotional impact it has on them. Laurent Tillie, ex coach with whom they won gold in Tokyo was one of the commentators for this tournament, and he was in tears after the game : « In Tokyo we were alone… » - he couldn’t even finish his sentence. Also, after this game, the medal ceremony was a bit delayed because the committee rules didn’t allow Tim Carle, France’s reserve player to step on the podium with the others because he wasn’t subbed in the tournament. France’s players are VERY close, they are like family, so they made a fuss about that and threatened to boycott the podium as « we don’t care you are waiting, if our bro can’t step on the podium with us we’re not going either ». The committee gave up and allowed him to be on the podium with the others, even though there wasn’t a gold medal for him (he got it later, and Trevor even gave him his medal for the picture !) Ps: they partied soooo hard after this (even more since the game was at 1pm) that the day after, they had to do interviews with hangover. Jean Patry answered to a journalist and his voice was as broken as an adolescent changing voice, with the rest of the team laughing their asses off in the background.

I'd be pretty disappointed in them honestly. They are the best volleyball team in the world by a LONG shot (points wise) and they just got swept, 3-0. I'm pretty disappointed by this performance.

@@Drock1891 i wish they beat France and yes I was pretty sad and disappointing in that as well, but what can you do ? You lose some and you win some . Even the greatest people in their craft don’t always win. May God bless this team and future volleyball teams of Poland. Thanks for your comment and it’s gonna be ok. I want to add that you said they’re the best volleyball team by a long shot that speaks volumes.

A little bit sad. I hope they will win a gold medal. But the finally, they got only silver. This proves something that the players are not much good for the pressure as it should be. They will perform increasible and best just only smaller game like VNL, Olympic qualified. But when they face the bigger game such as the final gold at the Olympics, their temper/performance are a little low than a normal game...

si ma hanno perso una montagna di partite, ma giocato bene al momento giusto.Un po difortuna e giocare in casa aiutano. I grandi si vedono nei momenti che contano sotto tensione e qui ai francesi bisogna fare i complimenti hanno fatto poche cavolate battute sbagliate nei momenti sbagliati, la ricezione è sempre stata ottima e di conseguenza tutto gira. se uno guarda risultati dovrebbe pensare che la Francia sia una squadra disumana ma sappiamo benissimo che è una squadra normalissima che perde un sacco di partite anche con i mediocri che nel momento giusto sa giocare bene. Non è il caso dell’Italia e nemmeno della Polonia.

Carle didnt get a medal because he's the reserve player. Since no one in Team France had a medically verified injury, Carle was not put into the lineup, and thus was ineligible for a medal.
