Totally agreed with the panel, they want Indian viewership anyhow, that's why cricket but Simon said very correctly ICC/BCCI should be very careful that Olympics doesn't become the pinnacle of cricket, it should always be CWC or even T20 wc like the way FIFA went about it, very smartly football became part of Olympics still FIFA WC remains the pinnacle of football. For reference do anyone knows messi won an Olympics medal with Argentina but only wc made him look goat for argentina.

@@Rohit24Kumar I think it will, the Americans only knew test cricket as cricket once they see IPL they will forget games like baseball which is played even less then cricket and baseball/American football are games that US created and declared themselves as world champions

Champion trophy should be replaced by Olympics because it is nearly 20 days tournament and formet will be same as CT comprising of 8 teams divided into 2 groups comprising of 4 teams in each and total 15 matches.

How do you know there are going to be just 8 teams in Olympic? Many teams will take participation if it gets Olympics. In T20WC, which is in USA and West Indies, next year there are 20 teams.

@@Himanshu_K17 yes, a 6 team game is porposed. There's also a limit to total number of athletes, and cricket has a lot of them per team. So they will start from 6 might have 8 or 12 teams in Brisbane Australia

@@Himanshu_K17because main. Problem is infrastructure You can play many game on same ground but in cricket cant play much games in same pitch, it requires time 2028 Olympic in Los Angeles so they must have 5-6 stadium to arrange more game but they haven't a single one

I think both Olympics and Cricket need each other. Right now the sport doesn't have a lot of competition where only 5-6 teams are actually competing. Cricket currently is not financially sustainable in the international scene, and franchise cricket is supporting the current players. International cricket needs more competition and the Olympics will give the sport the global exposure it needs to boost international competition. Because to have only 10 teams internationally rather than a sport like football where 30-50 teams compete, that's what is more exciting.

Exactly, India, Australia, England, newzealand should play more with teams like Netherlands, ireland, scotland, Nepal and such rising teams. The problem is big teams plays with big teams and associates play with other associates, which limits their progress. The best option would be these huge rich boards sending or inviting their A teams to play with these rising teams, a five year plan for ten more teams could be good idea

I definitely think its a significant boost for Women's cricket in particular. I do agree with Simon's points. A mini example of that was in the recent Asian Games. India sent their B-C team to the Asian Games and they won the gold, but no one talked about it because it was happening during the leadup to the world cup. Now, if Olympics is scheduled at the time of a major series, given its summer time in England at the time, then will the first XI be sent. Probably not. Which dilutes the importance of the Olympic medal. So it really depends if all teams take it equally seriously or not.

Olympics need cricket mainly because of following of cricket in India. If by some chance, Indians become disenchanted with cricket, then its following will reduce to 5% of its current following and it will not remain a part of even Asian games , forget it becoming an Olympic sport.

One thing they forgot, cricket could use a good boost in image in the US and Canada. There is a growing immigrant population playing there, but as for multigenerational citizens, they still think cricket is a sport that lasts for days. Cricket in the LA28 olympics will certainly catch people’s eyes

I think India is not going to win the Olympic cricket, unlike what you said, Kapoor. There's one thing to hope for it, which we do. Lets be honest, Aus, Eng, WI, SA will also be there, its going to be hard.

I believe that the Olympic movement should only be for sports that do not have a platform. Every Olympic sport should consider the Games as their ultimate goal. Sports like tennis, basketball, etc already have massive platforms and don't need it and should stay out. Give the spotlight to sports that don't get it at any other event.

Cricket is the second biggest sport in the world and yet many don't even know about it. It's high time all of the world is made aware of this fact and that can only happen through the Olympics. Also the crowds for the Asian teams in LA will be electric if they can qualify. I get the point of U23 playing but I know so many cricketers dreamt of winning an olympic gold. Yes they want the money from the IPL but winning the title means jackshit to them as long as they are performing well and making more money. But winning an Olympic gold is just a legacy thing. And with cricket basically never being a part of the Olympics, I would love for the sides to be allowed a full senior teams if they want to. And I'll tell you what, that may actually mean a lot more than winning the T20 WC cause after Windies winning it back in 2016, it really doesn't feel all that special. Yeah Australia finally completed their trophy cabinet and England completed their domination of white ball cricket but something new like this could reignite the passion and bring back a lot of people into watching the game again.

olympics need cricket? I know cricket is one of the popular sports individually,but olympics has more popularity. It is second only to fifa in terms of viewership. cricket is more popular in Asia. But in other places across world,it is not that popular.
