This and the men's 400 hurdles were phenomenal races. Such a brutal race, it always comes down to the last hurdle.

Sydney mcclaughlin has been great this year, but Dalilah Muhammad never got 1/10th of this coverage that sydney gets when she was the first American woman to win the 400mH at the 2016 Rio Olympics. She set the world record twice in 2019, is the only woman other than sydney to run under 52 seconds, the second female 400m hurdler to medal twice at the olympics, she has the 2nd, 5th and 6th fastest times run and she's in her prime at 31.

@@felistergatwiri7134 dissect that comment for me. what makes her a superstar but doesn't make someone who has been consistently excelling in the sport for 5 years now one? is it the age? skin tone? personality?

@@ida5067 She made the Olympics when she was 16. The US team. And set multiple junior records. She's only 21 and is the greatest female hurdler. Edit. Dalilah IS a superstar. Syd was running some of Dalilah's best times then as a teenager.

@@felistergatwiri7134 so it's the age is what you're saying? lol. because Erriyol Knighton is only 17 and made the US Olympics team. he placed 4th at the men's 200m finals and has broken all records set Usain Bolt when he was Erriyol's age. let's hope by paris 2024 he would be a superstar like Sydney...even though i know that won't be the case

@@ida5067 I totally agree with you, and shows you the influence the media can have on people's perceptions. I think that Sydney is great, and she's the spitting image of my daughter, who idolises her, but let's be honest here, just her name, Sydney McLaughlin, sounds like the name of a movie star, and Delilah's last name, well, we can form our own conclusions without stating the obvious what that projects, not to mention that Sydney wins in the attractiveness competition as well, which is pretty much all the media really cares about anyway.
