And an unbeatable charisma. *Olga Korbut was the revolution, way ahead of her time.* Many times conservative judges saw her skills like circus. That's why 10s were impossible to the revolutionary Olga. In 1988 she became the first gymnast to be inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. Not Nadia.

They have a small bit of foam on top, and then it's covered with a leather suede type material so it's not as slippery, and your feet can grab easier! Especially if u have beam shoes on! I believe now days, however, they have some spring type mechanism, which, if that's true, would make it more forgiving when u land, and also give u more propulsion if your adding a second trick! I think that's a little cheating, but it's all about the wow factor now days! 😊

I never get tired of watching her. Her grace and incredible flexibility in that little petite body is mesmerizing!! I met her years later when she taught gymnastics in Atlanta. She was still petite and actually took the time to work with my daughter for about 15 minutes, teaching her how she could perfect her skills. My daughter, who is 36 now, was 7 at that time, and she remembers that fondly to this day.

Class?! Are you serious? Back then getting perfect scores was hella easy. Now even Simone Biles who is considered the best female gymnast in history can’t get a perfect score cause the levels of difficulty has gone way up. If you want “class” go watch dancers. Gymnastics is about going above and beyond the human condition and make the hardest feats of strength look easy. Women just evolved to not care about how it looks that much compared to how extremely impressive they can manage to get. None of these gymnasts back then who concentrated on grace can even hold a candle compared to today’s gymnasts in how cutthroat the sport has become.

She started the trend that led to the gymnastics we know today. she was so innovative she opened up a world of ideas of what was possible on beam and bars.

That total silence was for collective anxiety: the public was simply enchanted by Olga and, after the scandal (of the judges) of the UB final, where she performed the most iconic routine ever, the public yearned for a individual gold... That It finally ended up happening 2 times.
