Most teams live together and practice for 10 hrs a day during the last few weeks leading up to the Olympics. That is the only way to become the best, most synchronized team and to bring home the desired medals.

to people questioning whether rhythmic gym is a sport, I can tell you as someone who used to learn gymnastics, it's probably one of the hardest sports. You need to be able to combine acrobatic, gymnastic and dance skills together plus manoeuvre the ball/ribbon/clubs/hoops with various parts of your body.

One of my favorite things to watch, the way the people move in and out of each other and how they are able to coordinate and pinpoint the exact spot to throw hoops and ribbons and also using the hoops and ribbons themselves to throw back to team mates is unbelievable.

Really thought their score would be higher. Greeks were a lot better in technique than GB but GB has crowd with them and then the home ground made the difference. There was no difficulty or technique wise unique in GB's performance.

There are leaps and turns and some light tumbling...so it's kinda got some "gymnastics" (as we think of the term), but there is a high emphasis on dance here, I agree. BTW: Wikipedia defines gymnastics as this: "Gymnastics is a sport involving the performance of exercises requiring physical strength, flexibility, power, agility, coordination, and balance."

Im glad you agree :) But colleges don't look at cheerleading as a sport cause I cheered during college, only high school does. Just because cheerleading has all-star or national competitions, it doesn't justify how officials doesn't consider it a sport. But I do like how you pointed out how its not universal. I actually forgot about baseball and football not being a sport in the olympics.

Depends on your talents. Rhythmic -> flexibility and hand-eye coordination Artistic gymnastics -> strength. I would say both are equally difficult.
