They showed time and time again that a split screen can be done in this stream, but i will never understand why the camera team often chose to not do the split screen when 2 athletes are on the wall at the same time!?!?

Thank you for letting Matt Groom commentate. He's the most knowledgeable and inspired commentator you could find for bouldering and lead. He gives the competitions so much value and insight about rules, athletes and scoring. Always a pleasure to hear him
@RiggioMichele7 ай бұрын
Are you kidding? lol He is the worst climbing commentator I ever listened, Charlie Boscoe was much better. Matt doesnt even know whether a hold is controlled or not, he has lack of climbing knowledge. The only thing I like about matt that he is positive but his acting can be really irritating. I would rather see Alex Honnold or one of the routesetters (like the one who commentated in slc) in the commentating position.
@xXxidealess7 ай бұрын
@@RiggioMichele Of course you can have that opinion/preference, but seriously, you complain about little knowlegde and then want Alex Honnold instead? 🤣 He's asking about rules all the time. Which i have no problem at all with, but it's a weird take while saying Matt's not informed enough.

Why last section of lead gets you 40 points is just imbalanced compared to the difficulty if topping a boulder. They should simply make the scoring system linear, for boulders and lead

The results are missing almost the complete whole time in bouldering and lead, women and men. I can't watch it that way, too frustrating to never know anything. You don't even see the NAMES of the current climbers. And again failure to show splitscreen.

@xXxidealess7 ай бұрын
@@10freekie2 I have, but i was very angry the whole way through 😂 But i also skipped a lot of the parts where i didn't know what was going on anyway. That took the excitement out of it for me. I mean, watching someone approach a boulder while not knowing his current score, and to what score a top or zone would elevate him... that way i don't care very much about wether he tops or not. So it's a frustrating and kind of time-wasting watch.

I am thinking... For the slab - wouldn't it be disadvantageous to have a chalk bag on your back? It gotta put your center of gravity further out from the wall? Especially if you are only chalking up in between your attempts. It's marginal of course but in most other sports you wouln't attach stuff to your body that gives you a disadvantage especially if you don't even use them.
@miristtotallw6 ай бұрын
I think this comes down to the climber's preferences. Lots of climbers don't wear chalkbags at all during bouldering routes and some do wear them. And then it kind of just becomes a habit, I'd think. My personal take for chalkbags on slab climbing: Especially in humid conditions or when your hands get sweaty quickly having your chalk at hand in the middle of the route is a lifesaver. Attempts on slab often take a lot longer than on overhung routes since the movements are so delicate and you have to balance a lot. Also lots of climbers don't particularly enjoy slab climbing since it can be very scary: tiny scrubs for your feet, no hands and if you fall often times you get bruises and scratches, esp. on your legs. This mental factor can pump up your blood pressure, which means warmer skin, and (for some) more sweat. I don't know if you're climbing as well, so I gave you as much of my thoughts as possible, in case you're new to the sport. :)
