To any past and future person in the comment section who deigns to read this. Yes, the judges only watch it ONCE and LIVE, not from a screen where they can zoom and repeat how many times they like. Yes, they can't see what the other judges score. Yes, there are judges from different countries. Yes, they have a score system design to be as fair as possible. However, we have to remember the judges are still human, and being human means being subjective. And sadly, in every competition where there is judging involved (diving, gymnastics, sincro. swimming, ice-skating, etc) there is always going to be a form of bias. The judges, consciously or unconsciously, will always lean more into either the home country (i.e. GB here) or the country with a "winning" tradition or history of "perfection" (normally this means China; USA; Canada in the ice; Russia in fem gymnastics and ice; etc; to name some), even if there are better competitors from other countries. And yes, with some exceptions, there is favoritism for the white western competitors/counties. Dumb example: in artistic gymnastics, a Chinese girl and and a Colombian girl perform exactly the same beam exercise, so equal that you can superpose the two videos and you still can't find a diference... Chances are, the Chinese girl will get a higher score, maybe not by much but still higher, simply for the fact that she is Chinese. So yes, again, the scoring system is generally as fair as it can possibly be, but there is always human nature and it's subjectivity in play as well. Thank you to whomever got this far for reading my rant. (if not, this comment will possibly die ignored for life)

I have a feeling the judges aren't judging fairly.. or maybe it's just me. My country is Holland so I am watching this objectively and not rooting for anyone. Something seems off.

Judith I COMPLETELY AGREE!! the judges obviously favor the western europeans. for example, during round 3, tom daley and waterfields were literally in opposite directions and they got 9.5 on synchro. however, the cubans did an amazing front 1 1/2 in round 1, perfect synchro even in slomo, and they got 8.5s.

I'm from England so I don't want to sound biased or anything and I don't know why the judges scored what they did but they made it fair having different judges from different countries who couldn't see what each other were scoring so it could be as fair as possible.

Numbers seem fine to me. The difficulty rating of the dive has to be taken into account. And just because two people might be perfectly in sync in the air, that doesn't mean they rip their entries. You'll see dives with good sync and crappy entries, dives with great entries, but crappy sync, dives with both or neither with bad execution, etc. There's nothing about these scores that makes me suspicios.

I'm from the Netherlands (which is the correct name for Holland). Our country has a way of just going with the incorrect name, even though I am very picky about it. The judges not judging fairly is up for debate.

During Round 3, GBR did not execute well. But they got a high point in the synchronization. WTH?! Cuba did well but still they got a low score. 😔😤

Holy GB got so over-scored on synchronization, especially on round 3. That was clear even in normal speed that they weren't somersaulting at the same time. Cuba got robbed big-time on synchro, especially on their round 1 and 3. And oh my god Ukraine was underscored round 4.

Iris Lee I am a diver, and I could say everything wrong and right about the dive the second they hit the water. anyone experienced with diving could see that in the somersaults petes feet were in the same direction as toms head. there is also obvious racism against the cubans and mexicans in the judging

yall have to remember the judges don't get the slow mo, they only see it live, and also their scores are subjective so it's very difficult for them to judge exactly when they only judge based off what they see. if it looks synchronised to them they'll judge higher.

As a mexican, i can confirm that. But, that's not a thing only for us, the rest of the LATAM countries, suffer from this too... Tokyo 2020, was full of injustice on some appreciation sports, were mexicans were participating, especially diving. Nothing to do with Rio or London.

They are all winners in my eyes, I jumped once from 10 meter platform, and all of my insides moved to my mouth, and entering water is like landing on the concrete. Bless them I hope they all find God Jesus Christ to be the true winners, because there is everlasting life that you can have trugh Jesus Christ your saver who died for you on the Cross and took on himself your SIN. He is real , he changed my life and healed my broken heart and set me free from SIN and change me and my life forever. Find him he loves you!!!! Peace.
