4:44 milak is very far away from dressel and at 5:01 milak is very close to dressel, so if milak just swims faster at the first 50m then milak can smash the 100m butterfly world record

@@lukamarkovic7263 Generally you want to touch the wall just as you finish your stroke recovery. But he got stuck in the range where you are too far away to touch the wall at the end of a recovery, but too close to take another stroke. That's what happened. It's often very difficult to prevent this, as you need to predict where in your stroke you will be once you're at the wall. Hence why this kind of thing happens even to the pros. You never want to be gliding unless you're doing an underwater. Gliding on the surface of the water just slows you down.

Crazy thing is that everyone that did it, did it once. Dressel did it 6 times in 2 years and I'm expecting we'll see him do another couple of times before someone else achieves it (depends on Milak really).

Why wasn't Dressel disqualified? He got completely submerged at the finish. If it was backstroke or freestyle, he would, I thought buttefly has the same rule (unlike breaststroke, where submerging is permitted because dolphin kicks aren't)

OK, I found there is a difference Freestyle, Backstroke rule after 15m: Some part of the swimmer must break the surface of the water throughout the race Butterfly rule after 15m: The swimmer must remain on the surface until the next turn or finish. So it's different with Butterfly 😁
