Wow, thank you for pointing that out! What an amazing athlete. I remember watching her at the end of her career, and the way she was carrying herself, she had a lot of neck pain but didn’t let that affect her performance.

These teams are magnificent! All the dives were stunning! I know they are judged on perfection, but even the lowest scoring ones lift the spirit with their beautiful dives. And yes, the Chinese are superb.

But judges do a lot of their judging on synchronization based on how they enter the water, more so than in air because the movements are so fast they can’t judge as well. I really think they should judge using slow mo replays but they just aren’t doing it due to time.

It's amazing they weren't synchronised for two third of the time but perfectly synchronised when diving into the water. I guess it's HEAVENLY DIFFICULT so they got high score for correcting it in the last moment! Or the judges only judge by the entry into the water? I thought with technology now, they can play back from difficult angles before scoring~

My guess is the really clean entries work in their favour ? With how quickly the scores get announced, I'm pretty sure the judges don't have access to the slow-mo, so it's about an overall impression of cleanliness. Tom Daley always has extremely clean entries, and from what we saw they time them pretty well too.

I love their performance, but indeed, it was better executed than synchronized, yet they got higher scores for synchronisation.. made me question the judging!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing and they scored it higher... later they had a perfect dive and it was scored lower... I don't understand the judging. I think they should replace the judges with AI LLMs... these humans are just not up to the task. There are always weird discrepancies that seemingly can't be explained by logic.

@sfincione2000 also... the commentators close to never discus the scoring. They always seem to just accept whatever they get. Even if there's sometimes a difference of 3 points between juries.

That is the fault of tv stations from your country. Most of the countries had participants and tv crews in Paris, or paid for the rights to stream... Eurosport and other international sport channels , or their branches in various countries had live streams ..Every country has several sport channels ..wth

@37:27 The Chinese divers were totally unsynchronized, yet they get 9.0. Before the Chinese even complete their dives the judges give them 9.0 - 9.5's. I see it all the time.
