Yes but when you have hammer you try to score 2 or more points. By blanking the end they keep hammer in the second end and can try for their 2 points again.

I don't get it. Why didn't Canada try and put one in the middle instead of knocking the other team's stone out at the end of end 1? Wouldn't they have gotten a point then?

Hi! In curling, the theory is that points are scored on even ends, and if you end up with 0 points, it's called a blank end, and since the first and second players don't switch roles, it's considered that no stones were placed in the house.

At the end of end 2, why didn't Canada use the hammer to go from the left and freeze on Sweden's nearest-to-the-button stone, throwing it away and making 2 points? Is it a hard shot or am I missing something?

You'd have to throw it with heavy weight to take out the red. No way it would curl enough around the guard.
