Hi Rob. Thanks for another informative video. As for the little "OFF" button that appears on the screen when you are using the AF feature. Apparently it appears as soon as you select an area on the screen to focus on. That's when the little green box appears. If you want to turn "OFF" the little green box then you press that "OFF" button. Voila! the green box is gone and the camera resets to the center or wherever you set the default to AF. Took me a while to figure that out. The manual on my E-P7 wasn't too clear.

Makes sense. Thanks!

First of all I wanted to say thank you Rob for having such an awesome channel and covering the camera system I use the most. I’m wondering if you can help me with something when I am in manual focus shooting black and white no matter what color I have selected for the focus peaking when I start focusing it turns my black and white photo to color when I’m looking through the viewfinder I’m using the OM1 the newest flagship

I don't see a way to do that with AF lenses. With adapted vintage lenses (no electrical contacts), it works.

Answer to query for digital PenF reference book: “The Olympus Pen F Menu System Simplified” by David Thorpe (Kindle & paperback) is a very handy reference. Sadly Thorpe recently passed away, but his works are well done, including some KZbin clips. Before I discovered Rob Trek videos, Thorpe’s book got me started with my Pen-f. Both are excellent references, imo.

8:00 this helped me on my Olympus Pen F. I was trying to make it so it would not take the photo upon focus touch and you brought that small icon to my attention which fixed the issue. Thank you.

Hi Rob, I'm Rodney from Brazil. To use an analog lens on my Pen F do I need to do any settings? If so, could you say the sequence in the menu? Thank you very much.

Hi Rodney. Sorry it took a while. I made a video for you here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqSxiZeqnaekiKM

Brilliant video Rob! I've been using magnify quite a lot recently (vintage lenses on an E-M1 mk2) and this is the most comprehensive round-up of the feature I can imagine! Great stuff.

Well Rob I stumbled upon this great video and then realized it had been my question which you were answering. Thank you so much. I love the magnify capability and try to use it often but now that you have answered my questions about it I feel more comfortable with it. Yeh...I didn't understand the OFF word on the screen either but I see below it has been explained. Thanks again....and I did find David Thorpe's book and it helped me better understand the menus. Happy to help. David was a tremendous asset to the m4/3 community. I'm glad his material is still available.

Thanks for this one, the way that icon shows "off" has always had me stumped, glad it is not only me. That first touch of the magnify button looks to be the "zoom button" and focus point some people are recommending for the OM-1 issue, is that correct?
@RobTrek Жыл бұрын
Yes, the touch-to-focus is the same thing as pushing zoom button once.

Hello Rob, I have two questions about using the OI.Share Smartphone app to control the OM-D E-M5 III 1) Is there a way to enable Wi-Fi on the camera without using the monitor (touch screen) and ViewFinder? I haven't found a way to assign this functionality to buttons. 2) In OI.Share - Remote Control - Live View I do not see the level gauge display even though this display is enabled on the screen and in the ViewFinder. How can I force this view on Remote Control - Live View? I need this functionality for taking pictures from ground level. I mount the camera on a very low cart platform on the ground and I want to control it from OI.Share on a smartphone. I have to turn on Wi-Fi without opening the screen, and I cannot look into the ViewFinder. I also need to make sure it is still leveled before taking the pictures. Thanks, - Yossi

#1 Sorry, I don't see a way to show level meters in the app. Maybe look at OM Capture. It's for PC/Mac, but might give you an alternative. #2 Go into the Playback Menu -> Device Connection Hope that helps, -Rob

I'm having small problem with the Touch Screen on my OM-1. My nose touches it, and the camera then wants to change my Focus Point -- sometimes. I touch the rear-panel icon until it says "OFF", but my nose somehow reactivates it, sometimes. Once I recognize the AF-point-Changing screen, I hit OK, and then it seems to stop reacting to my nose for awhile. How do I stop this? (I'm left-eyed)
@RobTrek Жыл бұрын
You'd have to disable the touch screen completely. Go into the wrench menu -> Page 3 -> Touchscreen settings "Off".
