First time I picked it up it was wow what a stunning grip, the buttons, the dials. Amazing stuff. The only downside is that Olympus did not upgrade the firmware so that it does not sport the best face detection algoriths that can be found in E-M1 III. Cheers

I used Canon slr's throughout my professional, pre digital career and changed to Olympus at the start of the digital era and never regretted having done so. Canon realised that many of its younger followers/enthusiasts crave status and image machines (American market!!!) and stuff the skill, whilst Olympus simply made good cameras for talented and inspired photographers.

Small note: the E-M1X body is 100 grams heavier than the Canon 5D Classic body, but the former is less dense since the body shape is flatter and wider, not to mention the center of gravity seems to be closer to your hand with the E-M1X. You feel as much when you pick up each body without any lenses. Plus, the grip characteristics of the E-M1X is basically the best of those of the E-M1 mark ii and of the 5D. It's big, but it's more comfortable than the other two cameras I mentioned because the size was used wisely.

Heheh, yeah I have seen what the D3’s one used to look like dono how similar they are
@jfphotography693 жыл бұрын
@@QippysChannel never shot with the D3's. D500 and D850, not complicated, and no need to take a menu system course to understand it, everything is exactly where it should be, nothing is hidden. I don't understand why all these camera companies need to have different menu systems, it does not help their cause or sales. The menu should be the simplest part of the camera to use, let the person behind the viewfinder worry about the subject at hand and their technique. I have heard nothing but nightmares in regards to Sony and Olympus systems and their menus. In regards to Olympus, sure it's a nice system but their sensor is outdated, heck my D500 has more dynamic range than the 1MX. Olympus makes nice optics "well they used to", it's a shame they fell asleep in the sensor department, I guess there is only so much you can do with micro four thirds.
@QippysChannel3 жыл бұрын
@@jfphotography69 yeah definitely agree with you, however I think , the reason is perhaps because they might be a patent on each manufacturers menu system that’s why they can’t just use exactly the same menus i guess
@jfphotography693 жыл бұрын
@@QippysChannel the IBIS and all the other technological features are also top notch from what I gather in the Olympus system, but that sensor needed an upgrade, as I stated before, I guess there is only so much you can do with a micro four thirds sensor and the pixel density, it is after all about the pixel density which produces the dynamic range "light gathering capabilities of each pixel" that is then processed by the processing chip/chips. This is why the D5 and D500 are pretty much identical except the D5 has higher ISO capabilities so to the sensor size, both the D5 and the D500 have 20 megapixel sensors, but the pixels on the D5 sensor are larger, hence more light gathering capacity. That is why you don't see 45 megapixel and up sensors from Nikon, Canon, Sony and others that have the high ISO range of the 20 megapixel FF sensors in the pro bodies of these companies, actually only Nikon and Canon at the moment have pro bodies with 20 megapixel FF sensors. The Sony A9ii has the same sensor size and can be placed on that category, but is lacking a built in vertical grip and a menu system that you don't have to go take a menu system course to understand.
@QippysChannel3 жыл бұрын
@@jfphotography69 Yup agreed, larger sensors definitely have more light gathering capabilities and making the pixels larger helps alot too in low light. would be great though to see how far technology can still make sensor that are smaller even more better then they currently are in the future!
