Olympus E500 Black N White Filter Street Photography

Those images look really good with plenty of contrast. You are right the pics from older camera’s are hard to distinguish from those made with newer ones. At least I guess for streetphotography anyway.

I love the contrast. Black white always looks good.. hard part getting the right subject matter in street. Buildings are ok but people are the challenging ones.. juxtaposition is something I like too.

I do like a bit of black and white Roberto, you get some good pictures with the 'old' camera. I still use my E 620 with the 14-54 lens but not as much as I should perhaps. You notice the size difference from the micro four-thirds for sure.

Yeah. Going through a bw phase. Love that creamy contrasty look. Mirrorless is so forgiven ng compared to DSLR.. keeps me on my toes 😆

Awesome collection. The 500 is very cool. From mechanical to image quality. I want the 300 to get that rangefinder experience. Not as many of them are on the market.

Soon as I heard you start talking I knew Id like your channel! excellent video. I'm a budget shooter I'm a pensioner so I buy used everything. ITs a amazing how these old cameras still deliver 25 years on. Currently I'm with a used OMD E-M1.

@@strokeracer cheers..haha.. hope you can understand my accent. Yeah I got em10 and em1ii and don't need all the bells and whistles. A good sensor and stabilizer is all I need. Love these old cameras. Just as good as any new camera 😆. Thanks for hanging out. Always welcome

Great camera and to my taste great photos Roberto. In my opinion the difference between CCD and CMOS sensor is not so much in color but in light transitions. If I compare my E-300 (CCD) to my E-620 (CMOS) the light transitions on the E-300 seem smoother, giving it a more film like look. This of course affects color as well, but is stronger visible in monotone/monochrome/b&w/whatever photography.

Filters for film cameras, you just reminded me of when I went to photography school in the mid 70’s, we only shot black & white and mostly used the yellow (or orange) filters for street “stuff”. Fun video, if you see Roberto please say hello for me.

That's good to know. I think orange might be good... I was using that Olympus editing software and it's pretty good still. I'll keep using Olympus.. Roberto might buy the Leica 😆

Yeah, this camera takes amazing images, and only 8mp. I probably spent 1/3rd the price of the camera on a memory card and a cable (I do have a CF card reader, however). Just love the CCD sensor, I didn't even contemplate using the black and white. I might just have to get rid of my film developing canister, chemicals, and changing bag. I use a monobath which is one chemical that develops the film, stops it, and fixes it. But I have to dispose of the chemicals properly, and I have to pay to turn in hazardous waste. So this might convince me to do that. Subbed.

@@johnnyc.5979 thanks Johnny great comment. Yeah I thought the bw turned out super creamy. Haha the pro lenses are still expensive for 4/3 but super quality. I did a few vids on the monobath too. I enjoyed the process but the chemicals are over 1 year old now. Fun to do occasionally but like you said the CCD replaced it 😆

Yessir! I still have my E500. I put a pinhole body cap on mine and shoot at the highest ISO in black and white.

Mainly just crop. Some of them I used a very slight move on the slider in Luminar but majority spoc. I think the contrast in camera setting was the winner. Need to experiment more I think to get nice balance

Ah yes, the sound of mirror slap -- music to the ears! I think when the rain starts here, I will take my Nikon D3500 out with the 50mm lens = 75mm field of view --- why not? An inexpensive camera combo, and should be good downtown to take some rainy day shots -- umbrellas and all. I will take a hand towel along in the case she gets wet. Hood on the lens. I think it will be OK. - Loren
