@HogbergPhotography the impressive AF speed works with all auto focus lens's. It's focus processing speed is increased through the range. It is lightening fast with the 12mm prime F2. It makes this camera pretty usable for HD video as well.

You can tell that Alamby is filming in the intro because the perspective is from a much lower angle than when Lok is behind the camera.

@fikerk m4/3 is hardly a mediocre sensor. And given that they've invested on the mount I doubt they'll go with an APS-C anytime soon. It would be great to have APS-C like Sony or Samsung, but I think the m4/3 format has the most staying factor so far.

@swingAE86 Olympus has the VF-2, a 1.4MP EVF for it. There is a native Nokton 25/0.95 lens available, and a bunch of 3rd party adapters so you can you mount M-Mount (like most Noktons) and other lenses to m43 bodies.

In a lot of images shown in the video, subject is out of focus and road is in focus. What good is fast auto focus, if it misses the subject completely?

Kai, why do you shoot with low shutter speeds? A lot of pictures have blurry subjects because of it. Is this something you like? Am I just not getting it?

@BatteredPiano One thing Kai and photographers in general are completely missing is the fact that noise can be a good thing if it's a fine grain, it hides the color stepping that is prevalent in less noisy shots. 9:20 You can see this in the video. The EP3 is less noisy than its predecessor, but I wouldn't say the shot looks better than the EP1. Have a look at the reflections on the salt shaker. No, it isn't spoiled by noise, it's spoiled by the lack of good noise.

It's an interesting times for cameras. I heard the E-P3 was faster than Olympus' latest DSLR, but only for single shot mode. I haven't seen any results from burst mode, especially using the equivalent of Nikon's AF-C in burst mode. (All cameras have it, on Canons it's called AI Servo.)

Oly has the stabilizer in the body instead of having it in the lenses like panny. It s obviously better that way, it supports well the panny lenses and the very old and cheafilm-manual lenses you can dig

Anyways that wasn't meant to be mean, I understand you did mention that, but even still you mentioned on several occasions that focusing was very quick and was "less blah" or something like that, then showed a photo of a completely out of focus lady. It just seemed contradictory. Anyways, love the movies and I'm a big fan. Thanks for the reviews!

Kai, what do you say about doing a second review of this camera with a better lens?..... Zuiko ED 14-35 f/2.0 SWD perhaps? Who cares how much the lens costs, the camera is already expensive.

Well, not in the UK. I think it's similar in the US, if you're standing on public property you waive your rights to privacy. I think that you can request that your face not be published, but for example people that walk past live news or TV shows don't all have to sign a release do they?

They both have their own cons and pros. dSLR are for professionals, mirrorless are for hobbyists and enthusiasts (or for professionals, as a second or walkaround camera). I can't see why would someone buy a dSLR over this camera if they cannot take it to work, to party, a friend's wedding, night out, university, meeting, shopping, gathering etc. Sincerely, a former Nikon dSLR owner.

Got mine few days ago. Bought the Sliver one. Doesn't really perform well in low lights. In low lights area, the camera can't bring out the details that well. Took a picture of my dog and his coat can barely be seen. Not sure whats the problem. Maybe olympus can fix it in the firmware updates.

Can someone tell me what it means that it shoots 720p video @ 60fps but the "sensor output" is only 30fps? Does this mean the extra frames aren't actually capturing extra temporal information?

I don't know how this can be a better choice than nex series other than the fact that nex lacks its own lineup of lenses. DigRev seem to not like sony nex. Still love the videos though.

I love the older OM series SLR's ( at least the ones that worked - most of the time, OM1, OM2) and the superb Zuiko prime lenses but remain unsold on these EP cameras I just can't help feeling that when Canon & Nikon get stuck in they'll blow Olympus away - which would be a shame. Olympus need to introduce a REAL compact perhaps a DIGITAL XA with interchangable lenses - not that would be interesting and way smaller than any EP camera.

I love this video,I show it to customers at work when I want to explain why the touch-screen is betterXD!!..it also convinced ME to get mine[with the twin lens kit],and as someone who wants to shoot really detailed shots for artwork but also have a camera I can take impromptu city shots with at lunchtime,it can't be bettered-[plus it looks great-everyone thinks it's retro styling is worth commenting on!!;)], so thanks for the great review!! =)

E-P3 has fast AF, cause its based on calculations of difference between IR spectrum and green. It doesnt have that much to do with processor. Thats why it focus fast only with MSC lens optimised for that. Otherwise, its nice, but more than 12 mpix would be nice and less noise too. Sensor is same, just in camera noise reduction was bumped up. Its visible even in this video, at 3200 it looks less noisy, but in same time its less detailed. Ergo smoothed by camera. No real ISO improvement.

I love how they manage to turn everything around so that things that are great on the E-P3 is bad features on the Panasonic GF2 and GH2.. I wonder why...and no Olympus do not have the fastest auto focus that the Panasonic system with 0,1 seconds found on the GH2, G3 and GF3... and I love how they just forgot to mention the movie mode... oh so the E-P3 have a hard time focusing there and the GF2 and GF3 shines... yeah..
