I found your video after I had taken a chance on buying this e-bay gem. It was advertised as having ‘flaws’ but did not list them. It April 2023 and I paid £14.00 the body only (white) but it also came with two batteries, charger and a 16mb SD card. I just bought it because the white body looks so great. I already have EM10mkii, EM5 mkiii, EM1 mkii and several MFT lenses. The EPL1 is a super little camera, yes it has its limitations but it’s super lightweight and coupled with the old 17mm 2.8 is a handy all day carry camera. The screen is not great but when viewing the images on a computer you can appreciate how good the 12mp sensor copes. It’s a very good addition to my MFT family of cameras!

£14 is a real bargain. I would have certainly taken a chance on it. A great addition to your kit, I'd say.

This is the camera that I first bought to try out the Micro Four Thirds system, along with the 14-150 mm lens for a long overseas trip. I was blown away by the quality and have shot MFT ever since. I still have my E-PL1 and take it out for fun once in a while. Great system. Nice video.

I bought the EPL 1 a few years after it came out. I purchased mainly to fool around with cheap CCTV C Mount lenses. What a joy 😀 The camera could be had at that time body only at a cheap price here in USA, so I bought another one. I still have both. I have gone from one extreme to the other with this camera. One day I was out shooting with a $25 CCTV lens, the next with the Oly 12-40 2.8 Pro. What good fun. I may gift one EPL 1 body along with the capable kit lens to a young family member who has expressed an interest in shooting. Yes the cam has its shortcomings when it comes to low light shooting such as in a dark restaurant, but if your desire is to graduate to a camera with manual controls, you can’t beat this one as a learning tool. Or as a walk around tool too :-)

Well, this is the best exposé on this little camera, that I've seen here. This camera, judging by your images, and your words, is an artistically oriented camera. Not an action tool, not a museum gallery image-maker, not a camera to impress the yuppie crowd. It is a tool created for personal satisfaction. I came here looking for references for this camera because I have the opportunity to buy one, with both zoom lenses, for 200$ Canadian. Just the lenses are worth at least 3 times the price asked. KUDOS2U on your fine work!!!!

I got this camera with kit lens about 3 years ago for about $25 at a pawn shop and it works perfectly. I now keep it in the same bag as my OMD EM10Mii that I also got for a great price at a pawn shop. This has become my EDC camera bag even though I have several APS-C and full frame cameras.

Great video! I bought an E-PL1 for the same reasons that you outline in your video around three years ago on Ebay for 79,00 € with the 14-42 mm. I loved it. I loved it so much that I bought another one for 38,00 € :-) Both are in mint condition and I sold the 14 - 42 mm for 50 € since I prefer prime lenses and I use old vintage lenses with the two cameras. One is a 28 mm, the other one a 50 mm. There is no need to switch the lenses. I either pick up the one or the other depending on my mood or intentions. All in all, I absolutely enjoy this experience. You do not need to spend a fortune to make great images and have a lot of fun.

You mentioned that you also have the E-M5 and E-M10. I was thinking of getting one of those as an upgrade, which would you pick out of the two? I love my PL1 but know it has limitations
@PhotoWays Жыл бұрын
Both are great cameras. If you are buying new, then the current M5 has much better specs than the M10. For second hand, I'd go gor an M1 iii which is really advanced. Let me know what you think.

I bought this camera in 2010. At this point, the LCD screen is dark and cloudy, except in the center. Does anyone know if it's user-replaceable, and if so, where to get a replacement? A couple of years after I bought the camera, I bought a lightly used electronic viewfinder for it, so I don't really need the LCD screen, but I don't like the idea of owning a "broken" camera.
