To be honest, OM-1 and OM-5 at this moment, is more then we need in mirrorless world. It outperforms Sony 7iv. Noise in Om-1 can be totally (almost) be removed in camera taking hi rs shots or few same shots and marge them in body only as an overlay process. If you like DSLR, go for Pentax FF or APSC, those are awesome. If you want MFT, go for m4/3 system.

Om system and Sony system are quite different, but yes you are right that in many respects OM-1 and OM-5 outperform Sony A7IV. It's an amazing camera

Computational photography ! That, to me, is what makes the OM-1 truly stand out. It is the future of photography. The seperate menu in the OM-1 is terrific.I hope more functions are added to it. Thank you for this great review. As you point out ... there is so much (else) to love about the OM-1 (as well). If there is anyone who can save cameras (from phones for most non-PROs) it may be cameras like this OM-1 !

In low light situations, I use the hand held High Res Shot mode, which cleans up the image considerably. Then, if it needs it, noise reduction in Workspace or Lightroom removes the rest. I get completely clean shots and great dynamic range at iso 10,000, which is the maximum I have set for auto iso. I haven't tried going past 10,000, because I've never needed to. There is a down side to this of course, that being having to wait between shots for the camera to process the files, so it's not much good for fast shooting. It's also no good for moving subjects. But I was really surprised at how well this camera handles noise when you use this method.

I'm perfectly satisfied with the image quality. If I were getting paid big money for very large, highly detailed images, I'd get a full frame. Z9 maybe. However, what I've learned is that 20mp is plenty of detail unless you want to do a heavy crop and then make large prints of that. Shooting fast moving objects in low light is really my only wish but that is a very rare wish.

@@tonytfuntek3262 no it did not. I loved the handling and menu system and the AF and awesome features, but the number 1 requirement for me is image quality. It just was much worse than even my Nikon APSC sensor D500 camera. This isO performance was poor compared. So it’s more of a Micro four thirds issue.

Better buying a smartphone. Micro 4/3 is not even a thing to consider. The image quality is really not the best. All this super features that you can have in any high end camera will not improve the image quality of this tiny sensor. Nowadays, get a normal crop sensor camera or a full frame and be happy!

@@ijc9984 I have used many of them! Do you really think I am giving opinions on things I haven't touched?And I own a OMD EM Mark II myself, that my wife used, but now she got an S5. We don't need to lie about image quality. Image quality is a simple thing with the principles of photography we use nowadays. I can use my microsensor camera, but I don't need to invent that it produces the same images or better images than any cropped or full frame cameras. Buy an S5 and check it out. All the blabla technical capabilities are there in the S5, but the main factor, the image quality, ahh the image quality!!! That superior image quality of a big sensor, ohh boy! Image quality is the thing that matters! Otherwise we can use a telephone or another microsensor around. There are many of them. I use my telephone and sometimes my Olympus camera, but I see the problems with image quality. And I don't need to lie about it. It's not a religious cult, or going to a football game to support a team... It's my money invested in good quality photos.

@@OmarFadul Well, I guess it really depends on what "blabla technical capabilities" one needs. I make heavy use of pro capture mode and most manufacturers still have nothing like that. All the image quality in the world doesn't matter if I don't get the shot...

To some extend you are right, however it's good to test OM-1 first. It really feels and works good. And image quality is superior to any smartphone I know.

@@OmarFadul samsung s5? If so that camera is okish for quick pics and SM posts. If you want to a good phone camera go with Huawei pro range.
