You can set the camera to always open in My Menu when you press the Menu button. Operations > Menu cursor Settings.

If it's the exact same camera, yes. On the mobile app, you have to register each camera separately to connect.

Not in-camera. If you save your settings in your phone using the OM Share App, you can name them there.

Rob, there are lot of reports on different forums involving photographers who have bricked their OM-1 while upgrading the firmware to 1.3. it will be nice if you can make a video on it to address the issue.

If you mean firmware 1.2, I've not heard about this. There are too many variables for me to address properly. I'd only be guessing. I did a quick search and didn't see anything, but maybe you can point me to a forum and I can look into it. Thanks.

Hi - a change from OM-D's in the OM-1 is, that some menu-settings are now global. Meaning they can’t be different from PASM-modes in C-modes. Would you know of a setting that enables/disables that change?

I have set up my OM-1 to your settings but MY Menu shows no item registered and says by pressing the white button during menu one can register the item to MY Menu I'm not sure which button is the white one . when I press the menu it automatically goes to MY Menu with the message below it. i have gone over it several times and re-watched you tutorial several times . I have tried registering customer settings. I am rather elderly 87 but can follow what is going on. but I'm missing something or my camera has a glitch . its got the latest firmware up date .1.2 for body and all my lenses are up to date as is OM workspace. thanks in advance .

Very useful to me. Would be useful if Mymenu could be assigned to a button? One question related to Face/Eye detection...(I know you did videos in the past...). My subjective feeling is that it worked (considerably) better on the OM-D EM-1 iii than what I'm able to get on the OM-1... Do you have updated experience/settings for the OM-1?

A possible bug? I reset the camera, and forgot to display highlight/shadow ["H/S"] in the EVF before storing as C1. Then I specified H/S in A mode, and it worked. But if I switched to C1 and then specified H/S, highlights and shadows did not show!!?? Switching back to A-mode, specifying H/S, and then saving ("set") this to C1 made H/S work in C1. Point is: H/S only seems to work in custom mode if it has been specified *before* saving it, not if I add it after switching to custom mode. Weird.

Brilliant instruction. However, I face the following issue: I own two OM-1, and I set custom settings in my first camera. I have saved these to Ol.Share on my iPhone. When I import these into the second camera, quite a few settings are not saved (incl. apperture, shutter speed, focus mode). Anyone else facing this issue, or having any solution?

Unfortunately, I don't have a second camera to check this. However, if you can email me the custom settings file, I can take a look. I know others copy settings from one camera to the other without issue. rob at robtrek dot com.

On some cameras I can label the custom settings (C1, C2, etc.) so I remember which settings are set for each. Is is possible to do this on the OM-1? Thanks

Not in-camera. However, you can save them to the phone app and name them.

Subject detect will only look for thinks inside the focus box. So if you set it to a smaller cross point, you have to be really good at tracking which defeats the purpose.

If you have saved custom settings to C1, and its Aperture-mode, can you change it to manual mode without making it over again? i think no?

You can't do that but there is a work-around. Assign C1 to a button, and while in PAS or M, you can go recall C1 without changing the mode dial. So if C1 is A, your camera will switch to A mode even if your mode dial is on M.

You just need to add items to them. When you have a setting highlighted, push the record button, then select one of the My1 - My5. Let me know if that answers your question. -Rob

Great set of educational videos, thank you. Is there anywhere you cover the IS settings to use with the OM-1 and Panasonic 100-400 for action with faster shutter speeds ? As a new comer to MFT I am fine with the 40-150F4 Pro but not certain when a lens has an IS switch. Thanks.

On Olympus cameras with Olympus lenses, everything is done automatically if you have the IS switched on and IBIS turned on. I have to send you over to Robin Wong, as he is really the expert on this. I'm not sure what happens when you mix Oly and Pana.

After 5 hours of travelling yesterday I returned to find and my photos from the tg-6 weren't that sharp. Have you any recommendations? I used both P and A mode. Do you use use All Targets, single AF or Tracking for focusing? Also what about face detect?

Hello! One question to the custom modes. Once you have set a custom mode and saved it to C2 (for instance) and, let's say is being set to Aperture priority shooting mode (A), is there a way to change it to M shooting mode and keeping all the rest of the setting that are being set?. I recently got the new om1 coming from em1ii and altough everything is kind of familiar I'm getting used to it. Is there. thank you in advance!

Hi, How do I set the level display on stills screen. I have it on movie mode only now.

By default, if you push the info button, it should toggle through 3 different information displays. One of them will have the level meters. You can also set the information display in the "Operations" menu #4, then go to "Info Settings" and selection various options there.

Thanks for another great video, so far I have not used my phone with my EM1.3 may look into it soon for the custom settings saves. Problem is I use my EM10.2 with the phone and I hate having to swap cameras in and out, wish we could register more than one camera with the app. I wonder why why they don't give us the option so save setting to the SD card like other manufacturers. that would be handy as well.
