I'm surprised no one mentioned it yet, but tanuki are also mythological creatures in Japanese folklore. They have quite a few abilities, including shape-shifting. Since you enjoy American cryptids, I highly recommend looking into Japanese yokai. There are a ton of unique and interesting folk monsters.

Very nice, like a zoo should be. Full of surprises. i must say i liked the Tanooki with the bright green crocs the best. But vegetarian piranhas and predatory camels? i never heard of those before ... The Africa Savannah, Desert, and other sections are very nice, showing the animals in a somewhat larger setting. When i visited zoos in the Netherlands as a kid (about 55 years ago) they did have all sorts of animals, but each was kept in a tiny cage. They had neither the space they needed nor the climate or company they needed. Zoos like Henry Dorley nowadays do their best to create eco zones to display and also play an important role in the preservation of animals that face possible extinction. The best part, for me, always is the aquarium. i just love the blue and all the other colors, the great diversity of animals, and the tranquility. Thank you for guiding us through that awesome animal world.

Those multi-coloured tanukis had me laughing out loud. (The accent is on the first syllable, btw -- TAH noo key.) They look vaguely like a raccoon and a badger got together and had babies. As someone has already said, they're endemic to Japan, where it has become a folkloric figure, a trickster like Coyote, Anansi the Spider, or Brer Rabbit. There are actually two species: the Japanese (Nyctereutes viverrinus) and the mainland (N. procyonoides) in East Asia & Vietnam. The second variety has become an invasive species in Europe, having escaped after being introduced for its fur. I used to watch them on a now removed webcam in Latvia, and they show up often now on a webcam in Denmark. In Japan, I am told, they are in competition with North American raccoons, which were originally imported as babies to serve as pets -- but, since they do *not* make very good pets, they were let go and are now an invasive species there.

Hopefully, you don't end up the road trip with: Diabetes, High Cholesterol &/or a Heart Attack. After consuming all that unhealthy fast food on it. Only saying that from a long time dedicated & concerned viewer. Whom cares and wants you around a long time. I've, unfortunately, had all those. Mostly due to being inherited by family lineage. But, also, from living a bad lifestyle. I proudly have now hit my goal of losing 305 pound's 🙌 All accomplished on my own with no 🚫 Surgeries, Wacky Diets nor Fitness Trainer's/Gym's.
