I feel like with new ships built just for them, plus some stuff reverse-engineered from Orz combat marine tech, the Slylandro could have a proper uplifting.

I'm guessing they're given temporary names when born until some arbitrary age where they are given 'true' names based on their actions and personality.

If they are taught new words for concepts they don't understand, then the word 'visual' might not be THEIR word for visual. Like a Spanish guy saying 'red' and 'rojo' to describe two different shades of red.

Why doesn't someone just fill up a ship with their atmosphere, being careful to duplicate the exact pressure and atmosphere? That way, they could leave the planet.

Because it wasn't option at this point since the alliance had to deal with the Ur-Quan threat.

It'd probably take a lot of research to get it right, not even getting into things like making it comfortable for them and how they'd control it. I guess the only ones who care enough to really look into such a thing are the Slylandro themselves.

What would you make the ship from, and once it was heavier than the rest of the air in the gas giant how would you keep it from sinking into the depths of the gas giant's atmosphere?

The acceleration of launch: they're too flimsy to survive an acceleration sufficient to achieve escape velocity? Of course, given how quickly ships in this universe can cross solar systems, there has to be some kind of gravity control/inertial damping, or everyone would be splattered against the back wall, so IDK

What would be interesting... there's an evolved biological/technological race of Slylandro down in the depths of the Source... interesting what can happen to a species in a few Drahnasa like turning green and evil.

Actually, no. The Ur-Quan were brown before, and they were scouts. They refer to the precursors as "Shaggy Ones."
