super advice. I often use a similar tipp in training: Ask a person to take a tablet full of full glasses with water and walk 5 Meters to the other side of the room, watching the glasses as not to spill anything. It will end in a mess! Always! Every waiter knows that. Then ask the person to watch a spot on the wall of the other side of the room and walk there with the same full tablet in the hand. Almost nothing will be spilled. Explanation is simple: Our brain is slow, but our body and brain knows almost everything about walking, gravity, etc. If you look on the glasses and try to correct the movement, the signal procession took too long. In the worst case a feedback loop will let you stumble. Intuition and trust (and training) is the answer. Stop thinking. PS: Love all of your videos. So smart and deep - and simple.

Amazing! I really enjoy these three minute lessons. Short but powerful information. I could spend an entire week or longer trying to implement what was said.

This is some of the best advice I’ve ever taken! After hearing Clayton talk about this on numerous clips, I started to put it into practice and it dramatically changed my surfing.

Hahah. Yeah we are guilty as charged for being blatant self promoters🫠. We have a whole lot of merch about to drop via shop.ombe.co in the coming weeks. Just dropped some photos of upcoming merch on the channel community page

Thanks for this amazing concept. QUESTION: If I'm goofy, which hand is holding the coffee cup? Is it my left hand? or does it switch between?

Fill the cup/drain the cup... How does this change or apply to a backside wave? I'm goofy footed, and am re-learning to surf after ~15 years away, but where I'm living, you can only go left if you're willing to surf through a super reefy, urchin covered boneyard.

Same - my fave break goes right and I am goofy so I am better now at right than left!

I can see how snowboarding and regular skating (not surf skating) could negatively affect surfing as it is important to NOT have you body and shoulders facing forward when snowboarding or skating. You just want them stacked along the centre of the board, whereas with surfing you’re trying to face forward from watching your videos. (I’m a complete beginner surfer btw)
@ombesurf
@ombesurf 6 ай бұрын
As you improve and you surf bigger more powerful waves front on helps vision movement and managing speed. It’s not as important on small waves. In fact side on can help pivot the board and drive speed from fins in small waves

Do you think coffee cup is just used generally to create a habit of keeping shoulders perpindicular to board but once a habit, the rear hand can be used to aid in sharp turns. Do you agree?

Actually, it's a flat hand and point the thumb where you want to go...I call it the "Hitchhiker"..And then you have "Gorilla Arms", Mick Fanning has superb Guerilla Arms..Do a one leg half squat, put your opposite arm in a shoulder out and arm forward position, feel the balance...And that's how Mick gets so much thrust with balance..Gorilla arms..

Goofy surfer should be more difficult this exercise? Our right hand (strong one) is on the front not at the back, so is easier to regular surfers. What do you think?
@gwoodsy6872
@gwoodsy6872 Ай бұрын
I am goofy and I don’t think it matters, as you are not actually using your hand or arm strength in a contracted way.
