I remember... I remember I've got a too realistic dream where I was playing ERLC and entered toolstore. And in toolstore there was a crowbar with a description like "Steal cars". Maybe, it's not just a coincidence? EDIT: It was not a dream. Wiki says that crowbar was added on December 15th and fastly deleted, its description was about car robberies.

my main problem with this is how hard it is to rob cars and not get caught, as the minigame to hotwire it takes way too long, and 4-5 cops get you before you can even begin to start driving away

Wish they would add corruption. Giving criminals the option to try and bribe cops etc... Say a cop has you in cuffs, you could offer them a 5,000 dollar bribe to release you or look the other way. It would keep the server interesting since you wouldn't know who to trust on the department and have good vs bad cops.

the car robberies are wierd, not only can you steal a car and not get wanted, you can also get into a stolen car and not get wanted. Also, you can sell the car while beaing chased by cops.
