OMC 2.3 popping out of gear

Obtain the service manual I have it it has the complete adjustment procedure in there step by step The distance from the cable crimp end to the center of the hole attaching the lower cable to the arm should be 7 5/8” Just set mine up last night Same engine

No I ended up losing all of forward drive. I think that bouncing is the clutch dog going bad. Getting reedy to do se116 outdrive conversion.

Your videos are great. Do you have one of this configuration that explains when sea is supposed to be active and when it is to be deactivated regarding going into gear and returning to neutral. Thanks

My omc 3.0 when putting the engine under load last time out in the water, it would Rev way up and propeller stops turning. Possibly the cable popping it out of gear like that. I could only drive the boat 10-15kms/hr any higher popped out of gear.

Tyler Warman Forward gear and clutch dog is worn.....I had same problem.....solved problem by grinding meshing tangs on forward gear and clutch dog....saved hundreds of $$$$$$$...Works great now. \

That microswitch wasn't being actuated.

I never could get it right. I tried and sent it to a couple of boat mechanics that couldn't get it right either. I ended up selling it.

I'm gonna try switching the shift cables hope that will help.

On my OMC cobra, Transom Shift cable was the problem, and new cable needed adjustment. www.hastings.org/~stuart/cobra/

Be careful! 1/32 of an inch on the lower shift cable can mean 1100 dollars in gears!

your spark arrester is spinning in circles
