OMC Cobra & Volvo Penta - Boat Almost Exploded!

This was a scary start to the year! The boat likely would have exploded if I left the engine compartment closed. Let this be a lesson to you all, make sure you do all your safety checks. Check for fuel leaks and make sure you have a fire extinguisher.

Also info on the pump replacement part. I can’t find the proper one for lining up the fuel lines. Can’t reclock most of the pumps to fit so parts are very limited it seems. Touching on this subject will be helpful. Thanks Mike your videos save my life.

Now that is scary! I installed a gas vapor detector in my boat just for this reason, that is REALLY DANGEROUS. Always sniff for fumes before even putting the blower on! This is why some people will only have outboards!

I had to replace my fuel pump this year on my ‘88 3.0 OMC. I took the old pump apart to see how it all works and the diaphragm was completely disintegrated into a liquid! No direct replacement pump for that engine either, so I went with the closest match I could find; just had to setup new fuel line because the ports were in different locations.

That engine is clearly a ford small block. Try finding a fuel pump that fits an 80s pre fuel injection truck. That could be a 302 or 351 Windsor.

I was wondering if you can do me a favor. I had the same motor when you put it on number one piston. Where is your rotor pointing at? And what is the degrees? Cuz I'm having trouble starting mine. I have a 94 5.8 Cobra motor

There is one, but the leaking fuel at the pump itself would have caused an issue.
