i remember Pauly coming to our Church home group in Albany Road Ponsonby. He never said anything but just listened. He always gave you a hug at the end of the night. At youth group events over summer he always bought his guitar to the beach bbqs. Only a few years later here he was a superstar with the one-hit single How Bizarre. He made over 11.5million from this song but the cost of touring ate it away whilst waiting for the next hit that unfortunately never came in time. I wish i had got to know him better.

Sounds like he was an good bloke. When I was little, this was my favourite song on the radio. He definitely was a loss, like Darcy Clay. Kia Kaha.

@@lebarosky 100%, means he had to pay upfront for touring costs and then didn't actually get the profits. Don't know NZ laws but there was probably something lax in there that hurt, since this kind of thing stopped regularly happening even in the 90s.

The backing vocalists are the ones most heard in the chorus of the recorded version. Some criticise Pauly's vocals on the live videos for being out of tune but he wasn't. He was doing the harmonies as he did on the recording. The "backing" vocalists did the melody in the chorus.
