The 1998 SM 300M GMT was a milestone for the series with a new dial design and a case bereft of the Professional's helium release valve. Do you prefer this model or the more traditional SMP Diver 300M "Bond" look? Best, Rim

Hi, would you tell me the code of the steel bracelet on this watch? It's written on the clasp but I couldn't see it in the video. Thanks!! Gabor

Probably the best watch! the best bang for the buck ! I have it bought a week before Sep 11 2001...still ticks and performed way better than my Rolex GMT when tested at -33 deg C, great weight, great design, great luminescence, great making (default 300m), I have even swam with it with the crown not all the way down...and didn' even notice. my fav watch of my little collection...

After owning multiple of both the Bond version and the Blake version, I've concluded that they are purely equals. I currently own a 2254 mechanical steel, a 2231 mechanical titanium, and a 2221 quartz (the last ever quartz SMP). I've also had a couple Brosnan 2531's and would love another. Omega Seamaster was where it all started for me. Way back when I was a little kid who knew nothing about watches, I wanted a Seamaster!

I had a couple Omega's with the Bond style bracelet, so I bought this one with what they call the Peter Blake bracelet. While it's a fantastic watch, folks should know that these watches are notorious for the hour wheel wearing out. You'll notice the hour hand will just hang up during the date change. My advice if you are interested in buying one of these is to find someone that has recently had the watch serviced or one that comes with some type of warranty, otherwise you'll need to send it to Omega when the hour hand fails.

awesome seamster.. now that they are no longer being made by OMEGA makes me want it even more! love all the special 1998 to 2000 omega seamaster professionals limited editions (America's Cup with white gold bezel ref#2533.50), (Titanium version ref#2231.50) (GMT ref#2534.50), (all rose gold version ref#2636.50.91)

Is this a wise grail to pursue as a neo vintage watch to save for?

Im weird when it comes to GMT watches, i like it to look like a dedicated gmt, not something that just has the function added on to create diversity for the sake of functionaly diversity. To me the explorer 2 is the benchmark. This omega is, im my opinion, one of the few true competitors. They used to be bargains a mere 5 years ago. Now they're ticking up in price to their true value. Bummer for buyers, awesome for sellers.

Nice review, however as I have owned this GMT model for over 20 years....I know a little about this model (still love it..) that clasp was a pain in the butt as on occasion the clasp could open when your wrist was at an angle so I changed it out for a Professional clasp this was much better. The bezel would be better if it was in ceramic with a luminous dot at twelve....do you know of an aftermarket solution for this...? Many thanks.

I'm wearing the same watch with Bond bracelet and always wondering how the sliding extension on this 50th anniversary bracelet works, yes, you can slide out to extend it, but you can not close the clasp once it's extended, then what's the function of it? Can someone help me to understand how to use this type of clasp with sliding extension? I've been wondering this since I got my Bond band, thanks in advance.

I have 15.2cm (6 inch) wrists and the endlinks would start to protrude out from the edges. Not sure how one with 14cm wrists will fare though.

Shame you never took a lume shot. The lume on these early 2000s Seamasters were fucking crazy. Puts the Seiko Monster to shame, which says much.

This is an all time classic watch, great design and great look on the wrist, I own one and feel that it is so undervalued. Joint favourite watch along with the Seamaster America’s Cup, white gold version, which I also am luckily enough to own, I personally prefer Omega design and look to Rolex and the older style Seamaster 300 dive watches, I feel the new Omega lines look a bit too bling for me.
