It is a pity there wasn’t a truly radical alternative offered like the Longines Hydroconquest VHP GMT. I bought one because when it came to travelling I wanted near absolute accuracy; ease of function where I can see a different time zone at the press of the crown and understated “leave me on my wrist” design with large legible dial and excellent anti reflective coating. I appreciate that it will not have all the non-functional qualities that are projected by your other choices but it is perhaps the most radical development in the GMT concept.
@youraveragebreakfastcereal52857 ай бұрын
It is a great idea and concept. Longines blew it with the water resistance. 50 meters on a "hydro" conquest? Somebody forgot the plot...
@bergerecossais7 ай бұрын
@@youraveragebreakfastcereal5285 they certainly forgot to update the app. You need to use a four year old iPhone to use the flash setting. Also as for the claimed battery life of over four years, I am now on my third battery in four years but to give them credit it has been replaced twice under warranty. The perpetual calendar is a great feature though. My understanding is that Longines erred on the side of caution in limiting the public statement to 50m for fear of aggressive US legal action but I swim and shower and wash with it on every day. Ultimately Longines took an interesting avenue which turned into a dead end.

If you can get your hands on it, the Rolex Explorer II ref. 16570 would be my pick. Runs on the same movement as a pre 2018 GMT master II (Caliber 3185). HI. Longines (ETA also) has a GMT with jumping hour: the LONGINES SPIRIT ZULU TIME with the caliber L844.4. I think it is a good alternative.
