I have this watch, and it's been one of my favorites. Very accurate, beautiful, smooth second hand sweep, quick set hour hand, and versatile. Goes well with jeans or a suit. I have never understood those who complain about Omega's non-tapering bracelets. Wearing comfort is one of the aspects of this watch I like best. It is VERY comfortable. Simultaneously heavy, solid, and high quality, yet silky smooth on wrist. No irritating edges anywhere. More comfortable than my 2002 Sub by far.

I have this model with the speedy bracelet. Been to 11 countries with me, I swim with it, it's the most accurate mechanical I own, still running in COSC specs. Great under the radar watch too, all the functionality of a Rolex GMT Master with none of the chances of attracting the wrong attention and getting robbed for it.

A revised modern version of this model would be bonkers!

The planet ocean gmt is the closest modern version to this. Even has the same black and white bezel.

Wow, this has to be one of the best-kept secrets in the used watch world. I need one.

Didn't know about this watch, for a skin diver tourist its the ideal watch, even better than the blue wave and without the hugely unnecessary (but cool) helium carbuncle. Im in love.

Keep the hands, dial and case size. Add the modern movement, ceramic diving bezel and pivoted endlinks and you get a winner
@DeanoTXR533 жыл бұрын
Totally agree on the end links, but for me the aluminum bezel is a big attraction. Ceramic is just too shiny/blingy, something about aluminum mutes that. Plus it shows nice patina as it ages
@fadiinspace3 жыл бұрын
@@DeanoTXR53 agree on the aluminum look, while new, the scratches after that can be a flaw to some including me. Tudor does a great job in matte ceramic on the pelagos which doesnt look shiny while keeping the scratch resistence
@DeanoTXR533 жыл бұрын
@@fadiinspace Agreed on the Pelagos, it's peak modern sub as far as I'm concerned. I just wish they'd make it in a slightly smaller size that suits my wrist!

Mine are exactly the same as yours. The only nwgative about the watch is the extremely good lume , makes all my other watches look from weak to non.existant in the lume department...

Same, and I prefer the speedmaster style bracelet (1610/930). I've worn mine daily since 2005 (except when being serviced), and just spent a few days refinishing the bracelet. Still a beautiful watch after all these years. It's a little dressier than the Rolex version, but still sporty.

I have the exact same model! I love this watch! Even though it does not qualify as a diver because of the bezel and clasp, it's my favorite non-diver diver watch!

Question for anyone who knows these watches well: Is this watch functionally and operationally identical to a Rolex GMT Master II? Or does the Rolex have any features that this Omega lacks?
@ruvarkus3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a true gmt watch. Operates the same as Rolex gmt master 2

Bought the white dial GMT version in 2000 I believe? (recall this coz 9/11 happened soon after and needed a “replacement work watch” (explained below) - so picked up a Breitling)- Anyway; that Omega was by far was the best “pre-Swatch” Omega I’ve ever owned. Sadly I traded up for a Rolex SeaDweller 2 yrs later but then sold that and went back to a stock Submariner (reason? On my flights I’d get ‘idiots’ walking by or sitting next to me in biz class accusing me of wearing a fake Rolex during my travels b/c the older SeaDwellers didn’t have the date cyclops; yet! - so ppl assumed it was fake. Sigh) - I guess even now you have to step up to the 43mm or 44mm to get the cyclops date bubble? Can’t recall now, as it’s been awhile since I’ve shopped for one-(assuming you can even locate a new one to purchase that isn’t marked-up 300%) But I digress… though it is next on my purchase radar - the ‘red ink’ SeaDweller 43mm… Anyway; the reason I’m even bothering to post this 20 yrs on - is we went swimming one afternoon and the clasp ‘popped’ (video is correct; it is not a “proper” dive clasp) - and this puppy dropped to the bottom of the pool like a boat anchor! The entire pool heard it “clink” as it hit the concrete bottom! (They are beefy!) The impact was so harsh it sheered off the center post - So, I sent it back to Omega for a “warranty repair” only to learn then that Swatch had bought up Omega and their Repair Dept was in total disarray! After several polite phone calls overseas every 10-12 weeks; after 16 months of waiting and waiting and waiting - I was told they couldn’t find the part to repair it - and then said to me: “besides, it’s out of warranty anyway”. If it were ever possible to crawl thru a land line and strangle someone back then; •that• was the time I would have!! I gently reminded the gal it had a 1 (2?) year mfg warranty on it and that it had been sitting on their shelves for over a full year now! She didn’t believe me - so placed me on hold and pulled the original filing and came back later and reluctantly apologized. I got it back about 2 weeks later and promptly sold it as I think they just sent me a new one iirc - plus I sold it for more than I paid for it as NIB w/full warranty. The buyer was happy and I got my Rolex - so all’s well that ends well I guess - but knowing Swatch is now at the helm? I’ll never buy another Omega ever again unless they go and buy it back and take the company private. This is the only video I’ve watched from this guy - but he’s spot-on correct with his analysis and assessment of this series of watch-and upbeat attitude. Probably one of the better models Omega ever made. In 2000 I think I paid just under that - $1820; after taxes. I also bought a Breitling strap watch at that time as I waited on my Omega - and I got more compliments on that (Navitimer) than any other watch I’ve owned outside my Rolex’s. Peace.
