I just got one last week. I bought the 42.5 mm though. No complaints so far. It’s a really nice watch. I got white on white. I’m hoping I still love it as much years from now. I do wish it had the micro adjustment on the clasp. That would be really nice. As it sits its still a very nice watch. Perfect crown action. Smooth as can be.

I have had mine 5 years. It had to go back because I wear it every other week and winding the date forward broke an internal part. Gutted because I thought it was bullet proof. I took nearly 9 months to get back to me because it was send back with a misaligned Crystal and the bezel wouldn’t turn and we went into lock down. So a bought a 1861 speed master and absolutely love them both. 2 great watch collection

The trick to getting a good fit with the older Planet Oceans is to order an additional half link. The half link is actually around a 2/3rd link in size so by removing a full link and adding an additional half link I was able to get a perfect fit.

Nice review! I’ve the exact same watch too and it has been 10 years now that i own it. Just to correct an information: the 8500 movement is completely in house made in Omega, not made by ETTA at all, but obviously sharing technology with other Swatch Group brands, but it is made in house in Omega.

Great video about a great watch. I've had my planet ocean 8500 45.5mm for 7 years and I love it, its a big watch but so comfy, sometimes I think it's time for a change but it never happens 🤔👍

That's my grail, for sure. Amazing how watches have improved, even considering the Ward/Zelos models you just presented. I have that Crafter Blue (went with the stainless bezel, blue dial), and I love it! Congrats on the slim down as well! I shed about half that a year ago, and, it was a pain to resize a hundred watches, lol.

I bought this watch nearly 2 years ago and absolutely love it, the dial lights up when it catches the sunlight and looks gorgeous. I’ve worn it in the sea paddle boarding, sea swimming and in the pool, the thing I really like is it’s more of an everyday watch, not like a highly polished Rolex that I’d be too worried to wear in case it gets scratched or I get mugged. I’m not a guy who works in an office environment so I can’t wear it everyday at work but it’s a watch to wear around the house after work and all weekend. With the 60hour power reserve it you forget to pop it on the wrist it’s still good to go the next day or day after. I do think 🤔 mmmm I would like a Rolex but their too small and prissy and I can’t see any other watch coming close to my planet ocean XL.

I've always thought the lume on the Planet Ocean would be really good. Was surprised when you said it has terrible lume. I think it looks pretty good. Must be the blue luminova they are using which isn't as bright as the usual green lume that they used on their older watches..

how much was the service? Did they find any extra issues that needed repair? how long did it take? the turn around time really bothers me. Ive been told minimum 12 weeks, maybe up to 6 months - I really don’t buy a watch to be watchless for up to half a year..
@sonnyengstrom5883 жыл бұрын
@@jonw8uk1 the service was about 700$ I think (at Omega) and it took 7-8 weeks, 6 months just sounds crazy. cant imagine that a 8500 movement would take that long.. but it came out great and no problem came up so it was the standard service fee. But they warned me when I turned it in that the covid is putting delays on spareparts so they thought that it would take longer then it did. but if you cant or dont want to wait that long. try to find one that has been serviced.

Micro adjustments?! Give me a break! Have the newest clasp with it, never ever use it, except to play with it sometimes. As with the rolex sub comparison- PO is murdering the SUB in every aspect, except the thickness( and again, it’ s 600 vs 300m)

I'm a hopelessly devoted Omega fan, but in all honesty, I don't know why and how they can maintain the Planet Ocean along side the 300m Seamaster. There's just a lot of overlap there. My speedy moonphase has a very similar profile (but smaller) to this planet ocean model...the PO is about the same size as my 300M chrono, which is a chunky watch! I completely agree on the band comfort and also agree the clasp is way too small. I wore the hell out of my speedy and even though it doesn't get a ton of wrist time today, I've frequently considered selling it, but I'm glad I've kept it around for nearly 20 years. I plan to have it serviced soon and maybe it'll make the rotation since it's now back in vogue! Don't sell your PO..you will regret it. As far as Omega goes, I have two more models in my sights..the ceramic Gray Side of the Moon..just an amazing watch..and the "surf and turf" the Aqua Terra GMT World Timer.
@John4ka4 жыл бұрын
Omega can maintain the PO because some customers are no big fans of the Seamster 300. Like myself. I don’t like the waves on the dial, I don’t like the hour and minute hands. I don’t like the look of the bracelet (New and older models) of the seamster 300. But I love the PO 43.5mm. And that’s why I love Omega. They offer more choices than other brands so everyone can find something they like.
