Lovely watch. Got myself a SMP last July. I tend to ding my watches but still went for the hesalite crystal cause it’s that much closer to the original. That plus the fact that last July was also the 50th anniv of the moon landing made the nerd in me very excited about the watch and still feel like that. Hope your SMA brings you the same joy. Cheers!

Love how you call it the Speedmaster Automatic and not a Reduced. I just acquired a gold bezel reference 175.0032. I love it and it pretty much has dominated my wrist since I unboxed it. The only real downside is that I'm not very thrilled about the chronograph pushers and I am VERY conscious about nicking the bezel. Otherwise, I think this the Speedy Auto is a keeper for life. Relatively hard to find with the champagne dial.

Hi Oleg. Hi Bond. That was a really good upload and an important one too, because *so many* people end up with a Speedy in their collection at one time or another. Really good to hear your advice and wisdom after a year of ownership. I'm surprised to hear how 'delicate' it is. Most reviewers rely on the 'it's a moon watch, so its as tough as nails' legend, but as you rightly say - it is, for all intents and purpose, a 'vintage' piece. Personally I like an aluminium bezel and a hesalite crystal. A vintage styled watch should patina like a vintage watch IMO. Unfortunately, that *might* mean that I have to buy one new - I want all that patina to be mine!, especially on such an important buy. Also that reminder about servicing costs is so important. As they say, if you can't afford to service it, you can't afford to own it. I can't see myself having the funds to buy one for some time - but I'll be keeping all of these tips in the back of my mind until I do. Cheers mate. Stay well.

Hi Oleg I’ve had one of these fo about 8 years. Don’t know whether you could call it a coming classic, but according to Chrono24 it has increased 35% in value since I bought it. That almost pays my service costs as I used around 1000$ on an complete authorized Omega service a year ago... Never mind; I didn’t buy it as an investment but because it’s a beautiful timepiece. I use it in rotation with other watches as it is, as you also point out, a quite fragile watch. More suitable for everyday use than more rough conditions really. More than enough for me - I can always strap my G Shock on otherwise. I love the Speedy Reduced and will never get rid of it😊❤️👍

Hi Oleg good to see a video on my grail watch! I have the 42mm Professional moon watch & absolutely love it! It’s worn very seldom but the intention was never to expose it the so called fragility’s you talked about.🤪 Then again I am not that paranoid to leave it in a security bubble 24/7, in case some dust may accumulate upon it! HA!!!🤣 The look of these watches to me is the best chronograph ever! In relation to your strap dilemma, in particular leather 18mm, what about a military WW2 style one minus the cover?...🤔 Cheers from Oz👍🏼 P.s. When you started. Hi Oleg...I can see you've been brought up watching TGV and Adrian!! :) (drinking coffee) joke appart..., I also have a reduced but contrary to you I have rather chicken wrists which makes the reduced a bit more appropriate. I think a larger watch suits you slighly better...imho if you dont mind me saying... The thing is omega measures the watch at the bottom hence the 39ish but in reality it wears like a 36/37....Now, this watch has a special charm and i find it as desirable as the Pro which is too big for me but I'm sure you could handle it ! cheers

Hi Oleg. Over a year ago I thought of buying the Speedmaster reduced. On eBay the seller sent me a copy of the service that was done. $1100.00 US Dollars. So I lost interest in it. That was done at Omega somewhere. I forgot. There is also another one called the First Omega in space. I think it is 39mm also and might be more money than reduced. I have not found any yet as I have not been looking. Mechanical chronographs are expensive to fix no matter what you get.
@24hourstime4 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott. $1100 for a service is a lot of money. You're right, one big downside of buying any chronograph are service costs.
@scottsj46254 жыл бұрын
@@24hourstime Hi, thanks for the reply. I forgot to ask you if you were looking into the first man in space by Omega when you were looking at the reduced Speedmaster? Chronographs are a big complication. I believe your blackbay 58 from Tudor and your Rolex Explorer 1 are just 3 hands no date watches. You have a good chance of not needing a service for a good 20 years or so. No way to be certain but some watch collectors I used to know told me this.
@mgmodern76304 жыл бұрын
Hey man great video as always! Wondering if you’ve given some thought to servicing through Omega directly? Price is high (I think 750 currently) but they will replace parts as needed and will make the watch look almost brand new! I probably would be more reluctant to do that with a Moonwatch or something highly collectible as replacement parts and polishing would lower resale value. But I’ve given some thought to buying a less collectible watch like a 3511 which you can grab for 1300-1500 sometimes, sending to service and having basically a brand new looking watch for around 2k. But def would be one I was just looking to keep so wouldn’t care about resale value. In any case just a thought. Huge fan of the channel!
@24hourstime4 жыл бұрын
Great points! I think when it comes time to service this watch I won't take it to Omega. I have someone in mind who can do a great job and not charge an arm and a leg.

I think you just bought the wrong version of the Speedy for yourself. I bought a 50th Anniversary 1957 Edition (2007 year model). It’s 42mm, 20mm bracelet, sapphire crystal and case back with the automatic 3313 caliber Co-Axial movement and an engineered clasp and 100M water resistance. Not the Speedmaster the problem, more the version you bought for yourself. I did a full overhaul at Omega for 1100$ CDN txs included. It was the first time it had been serviced. Paid 4300$ CDN for it in August 2019. It’s a keeper I will never sell

Like the price or not it’s just based on what people have been willing to pay recently. Omega didn’t sell this watch at these prices and about 20 years ago replaced it with a similar version that at least had sapphire and a decent clasp.

Omega’s movement frequency and sub-second marker MISMATCH is FRAUD. They use 6 and 8 Vibr/Second movements combined with 1/5th sec markers on the dial. The chronograph hand misses all sub-second markers on all of these speedmasters, cannot be stoppoed on any of these markers, for almost 60 years, and no one talks about it. DESIGN FRAUD for profit.
