Simply the best chronograph for the money. Finally with exhibition case back. I have a 50th Anniversary Speedmaster 1957 Broad Arrow with a 3313 automatic movement. This watch will never leave my collection. I absolutely love it after one year on my wrist. I bought this edition for two reasons: co-axial automatic movement COSC and 100M water resistance

However, my understanding is that "co-axial" refers to the type of escapement, a part of the movement itself, used in the watch. Omega's use of "master chronometer" and "master," as I understand it, indicates that the watch has passed METAS testing for accuracy, anti-magnetism, and stated water resistance. I agree with you that the terminology is inconsistent and confusing.

The bezel had very subtle design changes throughout the years. Models after 1970 had the "dot next to ninety" and no accent over the e in "TACHYMÈTRE" which came back in the 90's.

The 321 movement went to the moon but a slightly modified 861 movement was already in production before the moon landing actually happened, the 1861 is the same as the 861 only with rhodium plating on some parts. Your watch has a direct link to the moonwatch. The new watch is very nice indeed, but IMO now too far removed to be called a moonwatch.

I do not think it is. The outgoing sandwich never was flight qualified. The only EVA-qualified watch is the outgoing Pro with hesalite and the solid back (.005). In addition the generation two of the X-33 (the one with the round central digital display. Rumours say that Omega still produces the gen 2 for NASA (not for shops). while the X-33 gen 3 (Skywalker) is only qualified by ESA and Ruscosmos. On the other hand, pretty much any watch is used on ISS these days. As such, the only watch that has a meaningful stamp of approval is the outgoing 005 "Professional/Moonwatch" which is the only approved for EVAs/Vaccum. It may be that NASA will just transfer the approval of the 1861 movement to the 3861 (this is pretty much how they handled the upgrade from the 861 to 1861. But it may also be the case that Omega will build limited runs of 1861 for NASA (similar to the rumour that they do have a limited production of the x-33 gen 2 for manned spaceflight). As I understand it, if you want to have a watch ready in case NASA calls up and ask if you can step in for an astronaut who got the flue on a 48-hour notice, the .005 is your safest bet to be totally prepared for such an unlikely situation.

Guys, be aware we are talking about watches and we are in the middle of a pandemic crisis. A non-ceramic and non-sapphire version is never ever worth 6k€. I own a 2012 moonwatch, no sapphire and no ceramic and I paid around 3,5k€. What exactly justifies the increase of the price? Only the movement? Can‘t see that... This stupid price strategy started with the 321 model and has its peak with todays gold versions...30-40k€ for a watch...yeah, no way.
