Why so much hate for the man? People are too quick to judge. For all we know, he WAS in love with the girl and planning to marry her.
@Scripture-ManАй бұрын
Now it does look like he was probably only stringing her along for the wrong reasons, which is wrong. And being in that position, it was DEFINITELY wrong. But lots of people sleep around, make mistakes, do things for the wrong reasons, it's definitely unwise, but not illegal. In fact society encourages it.
@Scripture-ManАй бұрын
As for the girl's age, you need to appreciate that in all historical societies a girl of that age would be married and possibly be a mother. It would be almost shameful for a girl to get to 20 without being married.

SUPERB directing and performances! Edit: I was greatly disturbed to read the comments here as there seems to be a lot of man-haters queuing up to hate the man in this film. Yes, sleeping around may be wrong, but we live in a society where it's both legal and socially encouraged, causing widespread confusion. Society is broken, and both men and women make mistakes, doing things they regret. The answer is NOT to demonize men for having normal desires and needs. Nor is the girl's age relevant - in all historical societies (including all through the Bible), girls that age were married and would become mothers in their teenage years. In many parts of the world today, the age of consent is not much higher, including here in England (16). Modern America is a peculiar society which claims to believe in the Bible yet on the other hand invents its own bizarre non-biblical "sins" such as teenage marriage. It's not a sin. You know what God REALLY hates? Sexism against men.

Teachers in the 1950s had full parental authority over their pupils, even to the point of corporal punishment. I don’t know the statistics but I believe sexual abuse was more prevalent before secondary school. Why ? is obvious Sexual abuse is often not reported, and there is a lack of comprehensive data on instances of teacher sexual abuse toward students. Even now, approximately one in 10 children have experienced some form of sexual misconduct from an educator
