The next arc is about stage plays. I discovered them because of Haikyuu (I love them, Suga Kenta is the perfect Hinata) so it'll be great to learn more about them. Either that or he is the typical introvert genius kind of character (like, he takes his glasses of and suddenly he is a hot monster... like Yuri in Yuri on ice.. another anime you could react to the op/ed, pretty famous when it was aired, even now it keeps having repercussion in the professional ice skating world)

It’s really amazing how the new B Komachi works. MEM pulls in the young audience because they already know her; Ruby pulls in the old fans of B Komachi, because while they know this iteration is nothing like the old, they all see Ai in Ruby; and Kana is the true vocal talent that brings the group together. It’s as Aqua said: there’s no point in him over praising them now because this iteration of B Komachi is going on to big things.

I don't think Kaburagi is the dad, but I do think he knows Aqua and Ruby are Ai's kids. I also think he's perfectly honest with Aqua: he wants him (and preferably Ruby as well) indebted to him. He's betting on them making it big.

100% agree. Like the very first thing he said in his first real conversation with Aqua was to bring up his visual similarity to Ai, which Aqua responded to by getting very, very interested in insider information about a person who died when he was four. And then his twin sister revives B-Komachi.

But I agree he is totally honest with Aqua on this, he knows Aqua has the potential to sell so keeping another useful pawn is no where a bad deal. Right, while I agree kaburagi is the biggest suspect. I do think he is helping Aqua because his potential. The technicallity will be explained much later but basically a single actor name can change film making budget by tens of millions dollars, no this is not a spoiler but common sense even in hollywood. So, I love the concert scene. I love how in the beginning, you can't really make out any White Glow Sticks at all. Then, after Aqua pulls his out, you start to see more and more of them in the crowd, like Kana's eyes are finally being opened and Aqua is showing her lots of people want her there.

Aqua isn't just a random fan in Kaburagi's eyes tho - he's an up-and-coming actor whom Kaburagi is investing in. Getting people indebted to you is a clever practice in any industry since it can and often will pay off later, as it did here with Kaburagi being able to cast Aqua in the stage play. And it happens to be convenient for Aqua as well since it'll allow him to dig deeper into Lala Lai. Anyways, I'm glad you enjoyed the season. I as a manga reader was very pleased with it too. For your question of "they are doing good, right?": Singing and dancing wise, yes they where doing good. But their performance had one big issue during the first song thanks to Kana, which made Ruby look suprised/concerned: Kana wasn't smiling the entire song. For those performances, the idols have to smile and portrai a positive attitute. The fans piked up on Kanas mood as well, which is why we see no white glow sticks in the audience before Aqua shows up, and why Ruby turned to Kana and made "smile" signal before rocking the performance herself. The moment Aqua shows up, Kana lightens up and starts smiling, and that's when you see a view more white glow sticks in the crowd, becouse the fans picked up on her improved mood. That one fan even pointed it out: "She seemed to lighten up during the secound song."

Enjoyed your reactions, especially during the concert! I think the producer would not be suspicious of Aqua's interest because he would know that (a) Aqua is the son of Ai's manager , who presumably "owns" the copyrights to B Komachi, Ai's the music, etc. and (b) Aqua's very first child actor role was when he and Kana were in Ai's breakout first movie. It would be like the son of the Beatles manager, who grew up around the Beatles, being interested in knowing more about the past of one of the Beatles, or something like -- it should make perfect sense. In fact, since the producer is very much a "what's in it for me" thing, there is every reason to believe that Aqua and Ruby would, at some point, come to inherit their mother's own successful management compay. Given Ai was an orphan, and we see that the B Komachi name is indeed something that Ruby can happily appropriate, and also that Aqua seems to acting as her mother's talent scout, Aqua is already to some extent assuming management roles. So even without the revelation that he's the son of Ai, he's publically known (to connected folks like the producer) as the "son of Ai's manager." Arguably there's no one else in the world besides him and Ruby and their mother with a better "right to know".

"Ruby is the idol Ai wanted to be" That's a great point, I hadn't thought of that, but Ruby's excitement and love for the fans is genuine, not practiced, born from her desire to give back the same feelings she received from watching Ai when she was Sarina. It's ironic that, at the same time, Aqua thinks he doesn't have Ai's talent because he's using cold calculation of how he will look to the camera, how the lighting affects him, etc. to achieve his results, but that is EXACTLY how Ai used to perform, calculating every move and expression for perfect effect without actually feeling any of it from within.

Kana's low self esteem is a matter of result than it is a matter of self doubt. She knows she can act, has the look and can sing. What's eating her is the fact that she didn't sell despite all of that. She knows she has all the ingredient to be a successful star and yet she can hardly land a job. That is the root of her negativity. No one is more frustrated about it than herself, which is why sometime we see her lashed out after getting compliments.

There are quiet a view anime stage plays/theater performances, they just aren't that well known/talked about here in the west. I know "Haikyuu" has a stage play, and "Death Note" had a musical, if I'm not mistaken. I think "Given" had/has a stage play as well? But that's an anime you probably haven't heard of yet, besides your "anime opening quizz" episode xD In terms of most to least known when it comes to anime media, the list looks something like this (from what I have observed over my years as an anime fan): Number one spot, best known: Anime/Manga Number two spot: Movies and OVA's Number three spot: Light Novels Number four spot: Audio Dramas Number five spot: Stage Plays

About love triangle. After so many anime with it, in situation like that, when I like both girls fighting for love I learned to not focus on who I want to root. I root for both and just wish/hope that the one who end up losing will get comforted after by some other guy and end up happy with him. Or just switch her love interest, at least to some degree towards another character. In short I just want both to be happy in the end, dont care which one wins. I hate when creators leave one with broken heart and leaves story at that. Just let them both be happy man...

I really dont think they'll go the incest route xD Akasaka may be cultured but he's not degenerate. Also, Aqua and Ruby (and the people they were before) are both properly functioning people (mostly. Aside from the revenge thing), so they probably know that it would be taboo. Furthermore, they are both biologically Aqua and Ruby entirely and both of them are subject to their genes. Aqua mentioned that he's becoming more "Aqua" than Goro. Its just that they both carry memories from two "strangers." And I do think human biology stops siblings from feeling romance for fellow siblings. Additionally, Kana has been setup as the main love interest since in the beginning.

Surprised there wasn't a "season 2 confirmed" or "see you in season 2" screen after the credits, that happens frequently when a S2 is "obvious". No date on the announcement either, I guess it could be the production quality being so high just takes longer, so we might have to wait a year. Hopefully not 2 years like with Kaguya S3 .. this'll be a hard wait. But missing popularity is definitely not the reason. When Kana starting doubting herself during the performance I was also like "where tf is Aqua waving the white stick, cmon!". And there he was, with the hilarous robot-baby dance lmao, that was hilarious.

Strange as it may be, exchanging of favors seem to be a big deal in this industry as we've seen the two adults talk about Tokyo Blade and getting the other to owe them. So in Aqua and Kaburagi's case, as sensitive as it may be, being a reliable source of info means that Aqua will be indebted to Kaburagi more. I'm pretty sure that's how Aqua got the role in Tokyo Blade too, through this producer

And you can also learn more about the actual Japan then with the fantasy setting anime or Shonen or something like that. The thing about that guy telling so much to Aqua, it was a business exchange. Aqua did work for him, he told Aqua what Aqua wanted. Also in Japan, idk about anwehere else though, the 2.5D plays with rotating seats and stuff you said sounded awesome is actually a real thing you can experience! One other thing to note, Aqua 100% understands that they both like him. I won't get into more details because spoilers, but just keep that in mind.
