Yep, ignored because she didn’t fit the stereotype. Wasn’t thin enough, wasn’t pretty enough and didn’t want to change for anyone. She is absolutely Australian music royalty and is phenomenal live. Remember the first time I heard her at Homebake, got a wind carried vocal line and just gravitated to her stage. I missed a big name gig and personal favourite because she played at the same time on a smaller stage but she captivated me the very first time I heard her.

Remember this in not cut in a studio, it was performed live. Rap must have twice the lyrics that a normal rock/country song does. Kasey needed the well deserved breath at the end of this performance. When the crowd is silent for the last song of a concert, you know you have them.

Kasey's version actually has better character progression. Eminem's version builds to the chorus every time to get you to move and gets you pumped. Her version builds throughout the song - starting weak and scared, gaining confidence and then finally defiant and "nothing is going to stop" type of attitude. Truly beautiful and I have to say, not since Johnny Cash did Nine Inch Nails' song Hurt have I even considered saying a remake is better than the original but Kasey is right there with this.

I've never been much of a country music fan so I haven't heard much of Kasey Chambers music, but holy cow, she absolutely nailed this song and brought out such emotion as the music changed with the drama of the lyrics. She is just getting better as she gets older. I really hope that Eminem has seen this and appreciates that his song and lyrics were re-imagined in such a spectacular way. I grew up in Barmera (was born there) and Barmera had the second biggest country music festival with the first being Tamworth (back then). I was a teen in the mid 80s and Kasey's family formed the Dead Ringer Band. Mum, dad and brother played instruments and backup vocals and Kasey played guitar/banjo as well as being lead vocalist. I am not a huge country fan, but I liked them, thought she had a beautiful voice, so it did not surprise me when she became known here in Australia. She has stayed true to herself only difference is the experience and maturity that makes her a true aussie icon. Becky Cole and Troy Casserdaly also woud play at barmera

We Aussies are so used to Kasey and her country music and i must add some great songs like "Rattlin bones", "Am I Not Pretty Enough" and "The Captain". She wasn't getting much airplay until she hit them with "Am I Not Pretty Enough". Now, I have just recently seen this and just like you, I was blown away by this performance. The beauty of Kasey’s cover is that she didn’t change a single word, she kept the cadence (albeit much slowed down) and put every single shred of her being and emotion into the song.
