OMG, have we got floor drop in our caravan now

Our first fans suffered from delamination. Apparently there is a product on the market you can inject into the floor to make it solid again, we didn't bother we just got ourselves another van. Great video. ATB

That looks fine Paul, on mine that GRP covering on the underside had detached in between the two chassis rails between the door and the kitchen, about a square metre, it was actually hanging down, after doing a bit of digging I found out it was a common problem with Swift floors of that year and some had to go back to the factory to have a complete new floor fitted, it come to light when they were about 2 years old, so if yours was going to go, it would have gone by now

As you are discussing caravan floors , could I make owners of bailey caravans aware of the problem of water ingress under Alu-tech caravans. Water seeps behind the bottom skirt rail moulding and it is then pulled into the floor edges by capilary action. ( I have had this happen in three caravans) A guy came up with a solution on U-Tube, see vagabond life. An easier solution is to buy some good quality pvc tape and seal along the top of the mould and the caravan wall. "Check under the edges of your floor after heavy rain".

@@paulandsarahcaravanlife No they havent, I bought a brand new baile phoenix in Jan this year. after a couple of weeks we had heavy rain so I decided to look underneath the van. I was shocked to find water pouring out of an air vent from INSIDE of the caravan, water was coming in from the bulkhead, under the windows, and also the window seals, seems they must have been aware of this as they had tried to seal between the floor and the walls inside. (a bodge job). And by the way water was also getting into the floor from the awning mould. As they say buyer beware!

Wow, that's amazing that they haven't sorted it. I would be making a lot of noise about it to get it done. I come across on video as mild-mannered, but I not when I comes down to spending hard earned cash. On something that should be right when it's clearly wrong.

@@paulandsarahcaravanlife Hi Paul, I have now sorted out all the issues myself. I didn't have the confidence of the local dealerships to get the job done properly. How sad is that, you are lucky to have a dealership you trust!.

We have a great dealership and I wouldn't go anywhere else to be honest. They always look after people. Maybe one or two slip though but most people seem to be happy. Glad you fixed it and you can now pass on your knowledge 😉

i believe floor drop is where the floor comes away from sidewalls. the securing screws snap. delamination is a different thing

Hi Paul, thanks for all your content, glad you found no signs of floordrop.I noticed you have a yellow awning rail protector in on the offside, I'm interested to know do you leave them in when towing and do u have a stopper to stop them moving around. I always remove mine before towing but I've often wondered if they'd stay in place. I know you can get plastic and metal stoppers but I've read the metal ones rust making them a pain to remove. Interested to hear what you do. Cheers Kev

We had delamination in one of our vans, you can get a kit to DIY if it does happen,
