In my opinion one liners are some of the most difficult forms of comedy to pull off well. Frankly the less words spoken the more impressive. I can't remember what it was but there's even an infamous 7 word joke Jimmy tells Not that long setups can't also be an advanced form of comedy, I'm just saying extremely short setups are also very difficult

They crap talk their country and government as much as they are allowed (The BBC is run by the government. They decide what goes on tv and what does not) I love the comedians over there because, they can make anything into a joke and it's only words. They can take getting used to before you can really appreciate that it's just not serious. It's all meant in good fun. Same with Don Rickles (U.S. Comedian from the 1960s all the way until his death in 2017. He also starred in quite a few movies. Understand something, Don is an insult comic. He has no hate, no prejudice. He became well known for it and no one hated him, he was well beloved. In fact, to be insulted by him was considered an honor. Because in reality behind his comedy, he was a very warm and loving man. Very sarcastic and extremely quick witted and had no problems calling you out on your bs and had zero issues with being called out on his. He was just a genuine man that made comedy different and taught us that words only have power, if you let them and everyone chose to see the truth.) @ClassicRiki3 ай бұрын
perhaps, but I didn’t find that any funnier than any other joke so that’s a little odd to point out, though it somewhat reinforces my comment. You are correct though, I’ve never once had a friend r*ped. Seems pretty harsh. Lest you forget guys, you chose to watch a compilation of jokes that you absolutely knew would be offensive so it’s not surprising that there are distasteful jokes; and lastly, you appear to have taken me saying “Americans” to mean specifically you two…I’m making an observation based on the general reactions I’ve seen from many Americans. I find myself arriving at the same conclusion after needing to reply to a somewhat outraged response to what I’d consider a fairly polite remark.

@@ClassicRiki I am not American. I am not one of the presenters of this video. I don't know why that screed was written in response to my post. I tried telling one of these jokes to an American woman who turned out to have had a friend kidnapped, raped and killed. She didn't get angry, she didn't suggest I shouldn't find the joke funny, she just explained it really didn't work for her. I've grown more aware that for certain large sections of American society, their lived experience is very different from mine. I don't think that makes them "delicate".

This is my kind of offensive comedy. As opposed to comedy that includes bullying, belittling, or bigotry towards marginalized groups... I don't find that funny. Now, if it's in good fun, observational, that's fine. But outright picking on, hating on... well, that's someone disguising their rants with a few jokes they think are funny.
