Fab finds! 💍 Watching after about 6 months so you may have already found it... the lipstick mirror/ring should have a signature - look like Stratton. Usually, Stratton Made in England or to that effect. Can put lipstick in it but also open it and put it on finger so both hands/all fingers are free to fiddle with makeup caps! It may just be for holding lipstick but it serves a dual purpose 😂

You scored! The turquoise rings are fantastic! A couple of them appear to be vintage Navajo made and signed pieces. It sure is hard to go wrong with turquoise and sterling silver! Also the rock crystal at 25:15 is stunning! Love the garnet glass brooch at 31:35! The antique carved blue stone and sterling necklace at 33:20 is exquisite. 37:35 I’m still learning about recognizing gold and silver if there isn’t a marking. This locket has some pitting on the back. What does that tell you about the metal?
@TheFunkyPickleThrifter9 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching my video! The first thing that tells me this piece is not gold is the color. It is brass, which usually additionally has a smell to it that I can identify. This item tho has lost that smell. That discoloration is typical of what you might see on brass items, not gold. I have tho seen discoloration on real gold before, but never looking like that. Hope this helps!

Love this video. When you find a makers mark and it does not have a Copyright mark C….does that mean it was made before a certain date? I read this somewhere.
@TheFunkyPickleThrifter9 ай бұрын
Well, I've never heard that before, but it does make sense. For instance, I've never seen a copyright symbol on something from the 1700s or the 1800s. I'm really not sure though exactly when the copyright office came into existence. The copyright symbol can be indicative of a certain year or years when it comes to specific marks on jewelry, for example dating Trifari signatures. Some may have ™ and some may not, some have script lettering, some have copyright, and so on. Hope this all makes sense. Thanks for watching. Cheers.

You can test your turquoise with acetone or nail polish remover with acetone- just dip qtip in acetone and rub the top of the turquoise. If color comes off onto qtip then your stone is most likely howlite dyed. Dark green turquoise usually come from China.

Yep, I've done that for sure. Good to know about the dark green. Thanks for your input and thanks for watching!

@@TheFunkyPickleThrifter just for the sake of acccurate info and learning, i want to note that China produces what's called 'Hubei' turquoise which is one of the bluest and lighest stones and its valuable too! so i wouldn't go with the dark=china rule though im sure it applies sometimes, The dark green stones in your lot look like Vericite. it is a similar mineral to turquoise and desirable as well.

I was going through a bag of jewelry and found a Native American pendent with a makers mark that I didn’t know so I was doing research on it for about 10 minutes when I glanced up and could not believe my eyes: your ring had the exact same mark as my pendant!!!!!!!! I still can’t find that mark and watching you say that you knew the mark, I was hoping you could share. BTW-I adore your channel and have been subscribed to it for a very long time.
