In terms of washing machine I think it's better if you use 14Kg DEFY DTL147 It's big but it's uses less power 300W to 340W

Not sure about your area, but in mine lightning is a serious menace. Lightning took out my first inverter and the motherboard was shot and had to be replaced. It was still under warranty and the supplier gracefully offered the part for free (he shouldn't have) and all I had to pay was courier charges to send the inverter to Nairobi and back.

Well done. I enjoy watching your videos and seeing the progress on your building project. You have done such a great job on your house. I just wanted to suggest that when buying solar, it is always best to get a system that supports all the appliances you need to use for it. The way to do this is to find out from the supplier where you buy from. They should be able to advise you on the type of solar that you need including how many batteries and panels you need to use your appliances. I notice that you are connected to the main Kenyan Electricity Company (I don't know what it's called) which means you probably have a Hybrid Solar System. The Hybrid Solar system will still allow you to use the appliances you have as your engineer advised you. However, if you you were completely off-grid you would use a purely Off -Grid Solar system. You can still use the washing machine as long as you have power from the main Grid (Kenya Electricity supply) but not with solar unless you get a generator to use when you don't have power and need to use the washing machine. A generator can still be used as back up for your washing machine.

Hello Kush Family, You should consider a carport or patio build with a solar roof to connect to your home, so that you do not have to worry about the metal nails impact your new metal roof and interior space of your home. You can plan future more with solar install like Villa Medellin Security Gate, but with a carport or patio roof with iron sheets easy fix with no leak to your home. You can clean the dust and debris easily without worry to any steep roof climbers and safety or repair pop out nails and holes. In Kenya many new builds don't have attic with floor where your timbers are for the roof and ceiling, so you can enter into the area below the roof for repairs to fix any interior issues that occur.

I thought that was the only thing missing. We actually built a stand in rural home...(metal) Very high.. You know like those ones for tanks... So when there's a fault, you Don't have to go to the roof. For Nairobi since the panels are small.. We built a kind of metal box for it.. It has been fixed.. Let it be... But the auto from Kenya power to solar... Not recommended for residential... Learn how to change manually and teach the people in your house how to do the change over manually. They are professional.. You should market them.

3KVA for that house is undersized, even if you exclude instant heater, cooker, microwave and blender. It can just serve the lights, charging, entertainement, fridge and TV. The security light alone I estimate are 10 and each rated at 15W. That's 150W running all night. I would have been more comfortable with 5KVA (still excluding instant heater, cooker, microwave, blender) because at some point you will want power in the outside houses which don't exist today but will come soon.

It is so unfortunate that our African leaders have failed woefully to give us 24 hours power supply. In Nigeria too we have to go solar to enjoy electricity. Countries in Western world do it for their citizens, this is not rocket science. Give light to citizens and make them pay for it. We need power to operate refrigerators, washing machines etc. It is sad that even when you engage solar system in your homes there are wattage of appliances that the system cannot carry.
