Keanu was driving through my town about two years ago, stopped in a local restaurant took pictures with the staff and owners and then drove off into the darkness. It was the biggest thing to happen here in years according to the locals😂

One of my favorite scenes was when John was talking to Francis outside of the club. It is a humorous scene to be sure, but it became one of my favorites when I found out that they were actually speaking in code to each other. When John asked Francis how much weight he had lost Francis in Russian says 27 kilograms, which is roughly 60 pounds like the subtitles said. But John wasn't asking about his weight he was asking how many guards were inside the club. There were 27. On a side note, I've heard from others that the actor accidentally really said 20 kilograms in Russian when it was meant to be 27. He either just mispronounced the word or was told the wrong one.

Two of the things I love in this movie, among many, are 1) Aurilio says they stole John Wick's care and killed his dog. Viggo only says "ok" 2) John picks up the phone and says nothing the whole call and then when asked "what did he say" Viggo says "enough" These are two things very early in the movie that let you know John is... someone to fear/respect in this world. I also love the "code" they use. You almost need a guide to follow everything, although it isn't critical to understand the movie. "Dinner reservation" for body disposal, The bouncer tell John he lost weight to tell him how many guards are inside, etc. Oh and how Marcus "accepts" the contract only after learning it is open... giving him the perfect reason to tail John and "miss" opportunities to kill him. Rules. And Management. They... are safe... ish.

Wick was caught off guard initially because he had put that life behind him, including literally burying his gear, and wasn't mentally prepared; but that's just something we see in movies. In real life those with a tactical background will in all likelihood remain prepared, both mentally and with an accessible a set of tools, to one degree or another no matter how peaceful life may seem in order to be ready to protect those they care about. Much like riding a bike you never lose the ability after developing the skill, you can get back into it any time.

Oh boy here we go!! I used to like Keanu when he was in Bill & Ted but not so much afterwards and I wasn’t going to watch this but eventually I did and I absolutely enjoy this series. Still difficult to see him this way but he’s the genuine article

2:17 I learned from a young age that there’s a time and place to cry. Once everything is handled then I can sit down and cry. 4:19 this always bugged me cause the company that had the puppy should’ve offered to send food as part of the package or at least the wife make sure she had some delivered with the dog. 3:20 she is his wife. My wife is my best friend. 9:32 after he met his wife he wanted to leave that life behind. 11:21 he wasn’t wearing the suit. He had to bring the “suit guy” out of the closet to fight. Keanu did the majority of the action scenes (he won’t call them stunts cause he’s not a stunt man). He even trained in the weapons used. If a gun has a 12 round capacity you can count 12 shots and see him reload or toss the gun. He was so good in training his trainer had trouble finding things to teach him. 18:19 Keanu had a fever and learned the action scenes for the club fight on the day they shot it. 32:24 they killed her because she attacked John at the hotel. No business can be conducted on hotel grounds which makes it a safe haven for everyone in the world. 34:29 he directed the blade to his previous wound to disarm Viggo easily. 35:44 the dog he chose was scheduled to be killed so John hoping for a second chance at a normal life is giving the dog a second chance.

You do know they killed the dog to get you to hate the bad guys... Worked, didn't it? Yes, that's Mayhem from the Allstate commercials. It's supposed to be Babayka. Babayka is pretty much the boogey man described in the movie. Baba Yaga is the droopy-boobed old woman or witch-like being. Both are described as mythical beings in Slavic folklore and the John Wick Pitch Meeting sketch points that out quite humorously. (Check that out after watching this movie. It's about 6-8 mins. long. Very funny). Note: all Pitch Meetings contain spoilers as that is the point of the pitch meeting. Watch them after you watch the movies. Over 300 movie (& some shows) PM selections available. Good point about his helplessness when they killed his dog. I've thought about that and I think it goes beyond him being just woken up and sleepy. I think psychologically he so depressed and down about his wife he was at a weak, almost suicidal mentality

You missed the world building elements, The Continental is a safe haven for assassins but no business (Murder ) can take place on the premises or there will be consequences, this is why Miss Perkins was killed by the management as she had tried to kill John in the hotel...A Dinner Reservation means the clean up crew will be required to dispose of the body(s), others have mentioned why he didn't just shoot the robbers when they first broke in, though I do appreciate its hard given the level of violence on first viewing just to take it as a violent action flick, the style and substance of the film gets lost......anyway another comment mentions the doctors is the key maker from the Matrix Reloaded but in addition to this the Director of the film was Keanu's stunt double on the Matrix films and you see him in this film too as he was the guy who threw John over the balcony onto the dance floor in the Red Circle Club, The Doorman (Francis) who John lets take the night off is Kevin Nash the wrestler of WWE fame , again love your reactions take care

From your comments, I think you missed quite a bit. The character of John Wick is an amazingly evil person who has put his life as a contract executioner behind him. This is the whole point of the plot artifice at the beginning of the film, killing the puppy, to build an emotional attachment to an otherwise unlovable protagonist. In your case, it worked amazingly well. Emma, you were invested in the character of John Wick immediately, blinding yourself to the irredeemable character flaws of a cold unemotional killer. Good reaction.

You learn about the coins more later. They aren't really currency but a social contract inside the organization. In these movies, the guns never fire more times than the magazine really holds. No Hollywood magazines. The flip Keanu became an amazing shot learning at Tarran Tactical. Lance Riddick is the actor behind the front desk. He passed away before the last movie was released. At the end, John rescued a pittie. Last year, I rescued one myself. He is named Charon after Lance's character.
