so for me, after i change the number to 32, it shows it as updated, but it still wont load in game

First make sure the pack is saved to .zip and not something else like .rar, has to be zip. Also when you open the zip you should see the assets folder and the other files. If instead you are seeing just one folder and that stuff is inside that one folder then you have one folder too many.

Yah, ever since Microsft took over Minecraft they have changed the format number almost on a daily basis. Hard to keep up sometimes.

Could you do a tutorial on how to add custom fonts? I'm struggling to find a good one that isn't hurting my brain lol.

The problem with fonts in Minecraft is that all of the images are very small, so any font you choose will be very pixelated and blocky. It is better to change the resolution of the game with a mod then to try changing the fonts.

When I did this for a data pack it said 'made for a newer version of minecraft even though its in the newest version

Open Minecraft to the title screen then look at the bottom right corner for the version you are playing. Then make sure that your datapack isn't set for a version newer than that. Can easily happen if you base the pack off of a preview pack instead of the latest pack.
