I shaved my head. I am a female, and I am 15 years old. Many people in the comments are saying that this video is pointless and meaningless. No it is not. It is so powerful and confidence-boosting and amazing to have a shaved head as a female. It is an amazing movement that I am so happy to be a part of. I finally feel beautiful

Quite hypocritical if you wanna change the perception of beautiful standard even tho you still chasing being "beautiful" standard but in a different approach in this case going bald or you dye you hair. it's what you see on the mirror. assures your looking attractive. So it's not that " I feel beautiful" "I look beautiful" because we all know you ran to that mirror after you shaved it.

That a very sad life to lead where your hair determines who and what you are and day is going to be like. Also sorry do you think like you the Bibles Samson where he gets strength from his hair. lol sorry you goof balls are to easy to make fun of and its like you do it so you can cry to someone abt how oppressed you are. No that is literally what you idiots do, create your own problem and when someone calls you out on it you go right into victim mode.

I shaved my head and it was the most liberating, amazing, empowering experience of my adult life. I'm over 40 and got tired of not being enough. I felt ugly, unwanted, and unloved. As I watched hair fall to the floor I wanted to laugh. I felt like all those negative feelings were being removed. After I saw myself for the first time after my hair was gone, I found a woman who was beautiful without hair and I loved and wanted myself. I feel free.

The Indian girl had the most substance to me. I think, for Indian girls and African/Carrib girls it's harder because hair, is this prevalent and significant part of our cultures. I can only imagine what the Indian girl went through with her mum and female elders from within her own community, not to even mention her peers and the men, when she made the decision to shave her head. It's kind of the same with black people. That 'your hair is an important part of you' mentality and its stifling for women who genuinely want to shave their heads be it for aesthetic or health (hair health) reasons. Anyway, all the women featured are beautiful.

childish bambino idk I want to shave my head but my mother told me I'd look ugly and I know how Africans are not only will I get shit from elders and other women but also my mother will get shit like "why would you let her do something so stupid" and she already gets shit because of my decision to go vegan. I plan on shaving it once I get older and move out but I'm also so scared bc I have 4c hair and my hair has always short (just on my shoulders) so I'm afraid if it looks bad on me and the struggle it will be to grow it back.

I'm a dude and I recently shaved my head and I walked around with anxiety wondering what people would think. I can only imagine what kind of anxiety a woman would have. If I catch someone passing judgment on a woman with short/no hair I'm calling them on it. My 4 year old daughter wants to do it because she saw me do it. My wife and I don't want to deal with the family judgment. If my wife will allow it, then so will I but when my daughter is in her rebellious years, I'm gonna let her go crazy 😆 I have tats, piercings and strong views. I can't stop that kid from being a piece of that. As long as she doesn't tear up the house, she can do whatever. Purple hair, no hair. Her clothing must protect her from the elements like sun and cold but I wouldn't be worried if the punk/90's style came back or whatever. I got 10 years roughly to prepare for that.

I shaved my head in June and I absolutely loved it even though everyone else did not. I felt more beautiful then I already felt when I had longer hair. My hair is now 4 inches and I am still in love. Many people thought I was a lesbian, going through a crisis, or I was crazy. But guess what, I am a women that does not need to have long hair to still feel like a woman or be considered a woman. REMEMBER THIS: If you want to shave your hair, GO FOR IT!! It will grow back and who cares what anyone thinks about you. YOU ARE YOU !

Briana Shelton I am 6ft 2inches tall and have shaved (buzz cut) my hair for nearly 40 years. I used to become sad when people said "sir" to me, but I LOVE my buzz cut, love the beautifully shape head I have and my gigantic eyes. Mostly, I love never bothering with hair products, gels, and potions. I simply wash my hair with water and add a little coconut oil to seal in moisture and frankly, I rarely do even that. So, when people say "sir" now, like the cashier and if it is a man, I say, "No problem, Miss", and when they hear my clear female voice, they look on in horror..LOL. Even if my tits are right in their face, all that they see is a giant being and in their tiny world, only men are six footers. I did modeling for for years! Go for it, but you have to own your amazon beauty!

im jamaican and my hair when it was relaxed brushed past my shoulders. apparently thats the longest anyone in my family has gotten it and it was coveted. when i first did a pixie my mom FREAKED. second time, going natural.... she almost disowned me. now that my hair is 3 years natural and almost bra strap length my mom still tries to shit on my natural hair, making fun of its nappiness... which is really insane. same with my bf who is african, when he tried to grow his loc's out his mom would shit on him and sabotage his lil baby locs. now they are almost waist length and everyone in his family envies his hair. now i want to shave my hair off again, wonder what my mom will say, not that i care now. crazy what we have to deal with, the self hate is so real. anyways, i really enjoyed this video

I’m Jamaican; living in the states. I have been wearing a buz cut for many years on and off and with consistency since 2007. It’s the best thing I ever did. Mind you, some guys I’ve dated eventually told me to “grow” my hair. The current man in my life going 3 years strong shaves my head and sees my true physical beauty. I think our culture is suffering from self esteem issues, desire to fit in syndrome and lifetime mental slavery. Some black men are guilty of putting pressure on some women who fall for the nonsense that a bigger butt is better, larger breast’s are more appealing, long straight hair and nails are ultimate beauty. Physical beauty is confidence and sense of self; embracing the creator’s image i.e. our selves is who we are and should be happy being.

I always get judgment from my father each time he sees me with really short hair. When I had waistlength hair, he kept critizising it, too. So the only thing I try to keep in mind is how I feel about my hair, as other people will find something to critizise in any case. Keep your heads up, beautiful buzzcut ladies ❤️

In my community, hair is valued and represents woman’s beauty standards. It has been an experience to see the reaction I get from my people, but whether it be a good or bad reaction I am happy because I know I’m pushing boundaries and showing everyone I more than just my hair and I am not afraid to show it.

I have alopecia areata. But I first shaved my head by choice. It is the most liberating and mentally/ emotionally detoxing experience. You're shaving away stigmas, unrealistic expectations, and beauty-obsessing strongholds. It's all YOU, no filter.i come from a family full of straightening combs, perms, weaves, wigs, etc. A strong Christian family where "the womans hair Is her glory". I stopped placing chemicals in my hair in highschool. I shaved my head fur a few years and then grew locs passed my butt fit 10 years. Afterwards, headaches and spine pain, along with alopecia areata set in, and my Locs started falling out one-by-one. I shaved my hair which held alot of history, pain, love (a detailed story of my life). I released those chapters and started a new one. My life hasn't been the same. I love my regal dome... take me or leave me. No distractions. You can keep your stipulations, formalities, traditions, and confinements. I'm free...

I'm 22 and an asian american girl. I just shaved my head yesterday morning. I finally push thru the courage to do it after thinking about it and wanting to do it so many times. I've always just had conflicts with my hair. Societal standards, beauty standards, sexual standards, and female standards. As I was buzzing all my hair off, I felt chains and liberation being cut loose strand by strand. For the first time in my life, I started to actually feel free.

I'm 17 and I've been rocking a pixie cut for around 3-4 years now, and a few days ago I decided to get a buzz cut. Since then I found a lot of people will literally stare with their mouths open until I stare back. It's a completely different sensation because it makes you feel so totally exposed that you just have to move on and exercise your confidence. It brings out more of who you are as a person because it doesn't give you the option of being anything else. I think this is a video that only some people can understand, because they've tried it before, considered it or thought about what shaving off your hair would mean.

Hi @Anekia, I grew up in Pune, India and never knew about the Tirupati thing. Enough with the wtf and shrugging your shoulders. I’m in Texas and just buzzed my hair. People, mostly Indians, keep staring at me. I had a pixie for the longest time and my salon lady would tell me how “lucky” I was for my husband to let me cut my hair. It’s an open secret that in this day and age when most Indian women go for a haircut... the maximum they’d want trimmed is a centimeter. So enough with the BS about how “all” Indians should know about tirupati where a handful of women get their head shaved. Unless you’ve buzzed your head, you don’t know the freedom that these women are talking about. It’s breaking free from preconceived notions of beauty.

it was made for the people who have been threw the struggle of beatuy standers basically. if you have been there then you will get it . a few girls exsplained how it was linked to culture , Beauty, and even happiness. they all realized they can have and be all those thing's without having hair. so basically hair does not define you at the end you are still you if you want to do it don't let anyone or any of those shallow reasons stop you. what I get from this video is self impowerment, no longer being fearful , and going for what you want no matter if socitey tell's you "it's not right" Or "your not beautiful" if you feel like you are that is all that matters.

I've had hair down to my hips all my life and never realised that I used my hair as some sort of security blanked because people only ever complimented me on my hair and because I was raised with the standard "pretty girls have long hair/girls with short hair look like boys" slogan. Last November I just cut it all off late at night without telling anyone and went to work next day as a new person. My colleagues looked at me as if I had gone mad but I never felt more powerful! Cutting my hair off was one of the most freeing things I ever did. Highly recommend to anyone.

Your mother’s focus on your hair and appearance is frankly disturbing to me as an old widow broad. This concept called “bodily autonomy” extends to every part of your body including your hair. My love for my now adult kids, grands and great grands does not come with contingencies or conditions. Sending a message to anyone, especially your own offspring that your love, care and concern for them is based solely on your parental opinions is denying them the right to their own sense of self, to their personal Identity, to appreciation of their uniqueness and to their fundamental humanity. I can not condone your mother’s behavior, Ms. Hannah. You’re pleased with your decision and that’s more than enough-and so are you. With or without your hair, you are still *you.* Your statement, “It’s like she hates me or something” is heart breaking to learn from anyone, especially when it emanates from a parent to their own child. I am so sorry. Please rock your beautiful from the inside out self. When I think of your mother, what immediately comes to my mind is jealousy of her daughter. Beauty fades; nastiness, pettiness and envy are forever. Her Character has been revealed through this and I’m certain a consistent pattern over your lifetime of similar experiences with her. I am sorry. You deserve so much more.

Same thing here. I shaved my head just today and i've never felt more feminine in my life. i've never been happier and she didnt really appreciate it even when she knew i would do it. She asked "so now are you gonna finally grow it out?" And my answer was no. You're not hurting anyone by this. If it doesnt harm you or anyone then theres nothing holding you back and you shouldnt listen to anyones opinion as long as you are happy with it. I wont grow it out unless i full-heartedly want to. And hey we're in this together ^^ we're beautiful no matter what and nothing could change that.

I just shaved my head also , last week actually! Everyone loves how it looks on me and thinks it suites me well. I showed my mom the day after and she since has not talked to me,because she is so upset. I haven’t told my dad and I’m scared, because I had brought this up to them a couple months back and they were completely against it. My dad literally said, “don’t think you can be under this house if you think you can shave your head like a boy and we would accept that”. It’s sad knowing their reaction to something that has made me so happy but I have gotten so used to this type of treatment in the Haitian community. Everyday before I walk in the house I put a wig on because of how they will react. It’s hard keeping a part of you a secret to the people who should support you the most.

I find it funnyt that people are saying "it's your body nobody cares" "selfobsessed" or whatever because people do actually care? Expecially on what women do. Whether they have children by the age of 30 or their dress is too short or too long , or too covered up or doesn't have long hair or doesn't have long natural hair. And it's usually always shown in little supposedly meaningless comments. If you didn't care then why point out you didn't care? go on not caring, unless infact you DO care

I've cut my hair super short before (nearly to the scalp) and I've shaved the back when I had braids, but I've never shaved my ENTIRE head before. I'm doing it tomorrow before I move to a new state. It's gonna be great and I can't wait! Eeeep! Also, all of you looked gorgeous. My own criticism is that the video wasn't long enough! I was living for it but I wish it could have gone on for so much longer. Twas a pleasure to watch.

Now I'm starting to like it and getting used to it, but I just wanted to say that this video makes me so happy and I feel powerful and good with myself. Any woman that shaves her head should watch this because to me it was a beautiful video that just made me feel better.💙

I shaved my head two days ago, and I never want anything else. It's so liberating, and so empowering. I feel more confident, braver and stronger because of it. I feel like I can do anything now, because not much will be as scary as shaving my head, or as controversial. I was afraid of people staring at me, but now I've done it, I feel so proud of it that I don't care if they look, because I am happy I did it, and I think it looks good. So as long as you feel good in it, it won't matter if people look, because you are stronger then their judgement.

I just shaved off my dreadhawk. I always had long hair because it was a symbol of strength for me. 3 years ago, when I got my dreadhawk, I wanted to feel and look like a warrior, to be able to conquer my life and withstand anything. And I did. My life has completely changed, I've become happy and healthy, I've found a home and peace. I don't need to fight anymore. So today I shaved it off, and with it I finally completely let go of all the hate, hurt, and fear that had been my life.

I wouldn't have any problem being togheter to a woman with no hair. I searched the tube for a video that pay homage to all you shaved woman out there but can't find any. If I had a daughter I wouldnt have any problem with her shaving her hair. You are all kickass cool and I support you all 100 %.

I came from a super religious family and even cutting my hair above my shoulders was a sin. I ended up shaving my head and I love and hate it. It's making me face things about myself I did not like and accept it for what it is . Which is what I wanted out of this. Hair isnt a big deal it grows back and I'm getting closer to the pixie haircut I like haha I feel refreshed new it feels good.

girls who have never had a shaved head don’t understand what it’s like. it’s so freeing and powerful. i’m 17 but i shaved my head when i was 16. at 16 i was shy and nervous and not really myself. but now i have so much more confidence, and i feel as though i really stand for something. i feel substantial. people in my family, and people in public, aren’t comfortable with it and they always ask me to grow it out. i have had strangers stop me in public and ask me what my gender is or if i’m sick. i think it’s important that beauty is recognised to be not skin deep, it’s not about what you look like but how you impact the world and make a change. i hope us girls can start to support each other more and we can start to realise that we’re more powerful together

I shaved my head three years ago because my hair hadn’t grown in six years and I pulled out a lot of it from trichotillomania. I was going natural and I loved it but I struggled with my own gender Identity and self esteem until My hair grew out enough to get braids. when I look back at It it was lowkey “revolutionary” at a school of 300 people to be an out lesbian with a very bold and telling appearance

I used to wear buzzed cuts when I was in my 20's, I didn't see it as a big deal because is not, but I live in a third world country and people said nasty things to me all the time, even friends but I didn't care, I have shaved my head a few times after that, I currently have a buzzed cut (I did it myself) and I still think is not a big deal, is just hair you don't need a deep reason to shave it, you don't have to explain yourself to society, you don't need their approval, is your body, do what YOU want. You are not hurting anyone.

ugh I freakin love this... I teared up at 3:44. its easy for people to write this off as fluff, but if you're being mentally bombarded with beauty standards on a daily basis, constantly being told you aren't beautiful until your hair is a certain length or texture, the power in saying fuck off to all of that messaging is really incredible. Owning your own body and realizing your inherent worth is powerful.

I was speaking to my mother yesterday about whether or not she’d allow me to shave my head. She said no as she has always done because it is ‘too extreme.’ I told her that 3 boys in my class have shaved heads, and she said that it’s different because they’re boys. That’s when I lost it. I’m fucking shaving my head tonight, people. If I don’t like it, I’ll grow it back, but I ain’t just gonna go through my life without trying out the things I want to do. As long as I’m not hurting anyone, you know? I’m 15, and stand by the fact that how my hair should look is no one’s choice but mine. Not even my mother’s.

I am an Indian, living in India. Had shaved my head and I absolutely loved it. I felt so free and at the same time, my features and pretty eyes just pop out. If you are in to dating scene, it may affect it a little but I was file with it as it automatically filter guys who are shallow and who is pretending to be open minded and non judgemental n says they accept the girl the way she is. I did end up meeting some nice guys who actually cares what's inside of woman's mind then just focusing on long hair, fair skin, dolled up girl bullshit.
