The instructions state to Disable "FC6/FC12 Compatibility Mode. That option does not come up in my FC Edit Configuration. Any help would be appreciated. BTW, great idea and video. Thanks again

The menu options in the latest version of FM3 Edit have changed and I can't find 'FC6/FC12 Compatibility Mode' anywhere in the 'FC Controllers: Config' page???

This OMG9 layout is freakin' awesome. Very intuitive. Immediate productivity and vast control without requiring much thought. I loved my AX8, but, thanks to this layout, I'm doing on the FM3 within my first hour on it what I still hadn't fully achieved on AX8 within my first year with it.

I've had mine for almost 2 months, and find it to be an absolute nightmare. Still haven't been able to create one of my own presets.

@@obliospop The learning curve on Axe FX is steep, but I was able to overcome it and am now liberated. Check out some of the videos by Leon Todd. I like the way he approaches things. One beginner tip, is don't mess with all the settings in blocks. Instead, just stick to the basic & authentic controls.

@@aterix Thanks Adam. I’ve watched so many of these tutorials that my head is about to explode. Leon, although he plays well, just shows his chops for most of the time, with presets he has made beforehand. I tried to modify the Fractal 001 preset, and it was a mess. I’ve had this going on 5 months and haven’t made one preset that works or sounds decent. It actually makes me feel bad. I’m sure the computer savvy younger generations before me can dive right into it, but I’ve given up. It’s literally collecting dust. The two most expensive paperweights I’ve ever purchased. Cooper- I have the Fm3/Fc6 with the Omg9 layout loaded. For my main rig, I have customized the effects switches on the fc6 to mirror my signal chain. Works great. But, when I have on a different rig/preset, how do I customize the fc6 switches to mirror that different effects layout. I need different switch layouts (effects) on the fc6 saved to each different rig/preset. New to the Fractal community, and still trying to learn.

I can answer your first question. You just put an FX block anywhere in your chain. Then you use the FX Loop send/return to your pedals. I did this with my AX8 with a BigSky to save DSP. I havne't tried this with my FM3 yet, but I'm sure that will still work fine. I also have a few favorite drive pedals not found in the Fractal, so sometimes I turn off the compressor in the fractal and put a compressor and a drive between my guitar and the Fractal input and it words great.

I’m struggling to edit omg9 to my liking. When I press something in fm3 edit it makes all the buttons on my fm3/fc6 become mirrors of each other. It’s not like my experience editing layouts and buttons on my axe 3 + fc12 or fm9. I just wanna add hood functions on my fc6 without changing whats already default on it.

@@coopercarter Oh yea lol! Yes. On a serious note...it made me plug my Fc-12 in for the first time to the FM3. I haven't messed with it as I was trying to work within the FM3 on it's own. Can I essentially load that layout into the FM3 (OMG9) and modify it? Do I need to set the same settings in FM3? Still trying to wrap my mind around it all but trying to avoid buying an FC6 but dang I love the lightened load

@@GregSummersMusic you'll need to do some work customizing the layouts for a 12. but you can load the default omg 9's as a starting point. Just make sure to set the bank size to 12 instead of 6.

The modes seem a little overwhelming for me. On the FM3, you have buttons to control the three modes of the FC-6: 1) Presets 2) Scenes 3) Effects That complicates each button on the FC-6 by overloading it with multiple functions. Too complicated. I can't stand it. I don't want to program it with "dozens of different presets". If I step on the FM-3's wrong pedal and step on the FM6 (quickly, during a song), I have back over to the FM3 to fix the mode. I can't figure out how I would use this without getting lost. None of the digital mini-screens on the FC-6 are readable from a close up, zoomed in camera. Obviously they're not going to be more readable from a distance. The colors around the pedal a visible, but don't unfortunately provide enough visual cue. Instead, there should be a BIG indicator, like a short display, icon, short work, and big color indicators for indicating what the button is (which patch) and its "on/off" state. I get that I can go in and customize it with a million different possibilities. I really want to like it but I'm overwhelmed just by watching this video. Maybe I should just the the AXE-Fx III to replace my II? Overall, I'm scared I won't like the complexity; that it's not designed for playing, but more of an interesting device designed by and for developers. I really want to like it. It sounds great. The guy's playing and tone are cool. Also, does it support digital I/O? I use that with my Apollo Twin X

This is just an optional layout.. You can program the units however you want. I usually like to have more switched to control each function's on/off, but the downside is that it requires bigger units. I have the FC6 on the way to reolace y voes mx18 which is an outstanding unit. I will have to see how I program it.. Usually the best thing for me is to have 3 main switches scense on preset - 1- clean, 2- rhythm 3- lead and the other switches, in this case, 6, for controlling effects in case I feel needed, like chorus for solos instead of scene which takes longer for the unit to load. so switches on the fc6: 1 - chorus 2 - flanger 3 - delay (maybe hold for 1/8 dot) 4 - rotary (hold bank up) 5 - reverb (hold bank down) 6 - tuner/tap I try t avoid as much as I can from hold functions for presets and effects. Only use them for scrolling between banks when I don't play a song. Give it a try

Hmm.......Absolutely frustrated. I have no idea how to make my own presets. I don't want to edit on a laptop; I want to be able to do on the fly. I tried to add a scene to the first preset, and it messed up all the other scenes in that preset. I've sat with this for well over 10 hours, with the Fractal phone book of a manual, and haven't been able to make a single preset that will suit my band. I've been using a TC Nova System for about 10 years, and it was a tiny learning curve compared to this. I thought that Fractal was supposed to have boiled the technology down to make it easy; in fact, i bought the FM 6 because it sounded like the OMG 9 was the way to go. Not. I reverted it back to the factory settings, and still no luck. I play 80 to 100 shows a year, and don't have time to screw around with overly complicated gear. Every single demo on KZbin has some guy programing presets on his laptop, and not on the unit itself, only to noodle around on his guitar for 5 minutes with a heavily distorted, long delayed, metal sound. Nobody gets right to the point. This has been disappointing from day one. I'll probably sell it, if I don't have some sort of epiphany soon. Not made for the analog minded.

Every scene contains the same effects blocks, its just the STATE and CHANNELs of those blocks that you can change between scenes

Bought the Line 6 Helix and sold my FM3 with the FM-6. The OMG 9 is just as ridiculous to program. The Helix 100 times easier to operate. The Fractal FM3 was massive waste of time and energy. I regret waiting almost two years. I know I’m not the only one.

Yes, exactly the same. It's the exact same processing and algorithms; as long as the CPU will fit the same blocks it'll be the same.

Fractal really elevated themselves in to the world of tube amps in terms of sound. Since the III, I’ve been thoroughly impressed. This is coming from a tube amp die hard. But what really disappointed me is the cash grab fractal did with only three switches on the fm3 when they could have easily used the same lay out (real estate) as the ax8 with the updated screen and software of the fm3.

Much more modular and easier to move between bedroom, living room, jam session, etc. I can grab my FM3 with just my index finger and move it where ever I need. A $15 momentary switch makes the FM3 more capable than the AX8 with regards to switching capabilities.

You must have no idea how much it costs to get this unit made. They are probably losing money on the first couple of runs of models hoping to make it up later when it is available to the public on their website. Line 6 has billions of dollars behind them to make this stuff happen much cheaper and much faster. Basic economics man. Stop being so petty because you didn't get on the wait list.

@@espojespo5 I am sure they've had plenty of offers to sell to companies such as Line 6 or Yamaha. Fact is Cliff has the market cornered and he knows other modeling companies can't compete on sound. So they compete on price. Fractal is a very small company and getting their units to manufacture is an absolute unit of a task that you will probably never understand.
