For the shut, you guys did the thru calibration. What if I would like to do all three, open, short and load? Do you sell the cal kit or do I have to make my own. Then what is the impedance of the load? Is it 100 Ohm or 50 Ohm?

Dear TakKanda, For the shunt-thru measurement, you can do a THRU or an open/short/load (OSL) calibration. The setup for the calibration should be similar to the measurement setup of the DUT. You have to make your own setup and calibration kit or you could use e.g. the Picotest DTBK01 Decoupling Test Board Kit. The default impedance for the load calibration for shunt-thru is 50 Ω but can be set to whatever you like.

It can be used to test coupled coils used for wireless power transmission? like estimating the mutual coupling or coupling coefficient between the coils?

Hi, I'm gonna use the device to measure the common mode impedance of a motor. Which configuration is suitable and which connector type should I use?

I am using one-port impedance measurements. I am using 1m long BNC to Clips Cable for measurements. After OSL Calibration, i get less than 1 ohm magnitude for Short connection. But should i expect a change in Impedance Phase for a measurement from 1 to 20MHz? In my case phase is changing from around 150 to 30 degrees with frequency sweep.

Dear Jatin, can you please send your request to support@omicron-lab.com and provide a bode file as well as some picture / sketch of your setup? We made some bad experience with long BNC to clips cable of bad quality. Maybe you try to wiggle a bit at the BNC connector to see if the result changes?

how to measure resonance frequency of rlc circuit using impedence analyser?
@OMICRONLabTutorials
@OMICRONLabTutorials 2 жыл бұрын
Dear Rajan Chaudhary, thanks a lot for your question. The resonance frequency can be seen in the frequency sweep where the phase crosses the 0° line. For further or more detailed questions, please feel free to contact us via info@omicron-lab.com

@@OMICRONLabTutorials sir can we directly connect our breadboard circuit at the fixture provided at the analyser. Or do we need to do some calibration before connecting it?
@OMICRONLabTutorials
@OMICRONLabTutorials 2 жыл бұрын
@@rajanchaudhary4480 please be aware that the B-WIC fixture is used for single passive component measurements. If you have a board, please use the one-port measurement. For further questions, please contact us via info@omicron-lab.com. This will allow us to reply to you with some more information and pictures etc.

hello, Im trying to measure impedance (Rs and Ls) at 300 khz and I get as a response a graph that Rs falls in the values after 300 khz, when it is known that the resistance always goes up fot high frequences, why could it happen this?
@OMICRONLabTutorials
@OMICRONLabTutorials Жыл бұрын
Dear Eduardo, please excuse the late reply. We have overlooked your question. If you still have issues, can you please contact us at support@omicron-lab.com? If you measure a capacitor, Rs can fall with frequency. In case of an inductor this is seldom the case except you are above the self resonance frequency. Maybe there is some measurement or calibration error. If the short calibration has a larger resistance than the DUT, this could also be the case.

Dear the reactance of a capacitor is not (-1/omega*c). The negative one tells us that its impedence is negative 90 degrees. The reacrance X is the module of the impedance of a capacitor, this assuming negligible the ESR of the capacitor. Thanks.
@OMICRONLabTutorials
@OMICRONLabTutorials Жыл бұрын
Isn't that a matter of definition? Some people call the reactance of a capacitor a positive number, some a negative number. In the end it is important that the impedance of a capacitor has negative 90° caused by the negative imaginary part of the impedance. Please also refer to: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electrical_reactance
@fursino
@fursino Жыл бұрын
@OMICRONLabTutorials I don't think it is a matter of definition. Reactance represents the module and can't be negative. The impedance Z is a vector, therefore having direction, orientation, and module. In the impedance, the negative sign comes out by a leading current in respect to the applied voltage at the capacitor terminals.
