@@b24jackson37 The only good Godfather book is the original by Mario Puzo. The rest are just poorly done crime novels that didn't even need to take place in the GF world. I will say though the Ed Falco's The Family Corleone was a decent attempt - although some of the changes in that book compared to the original work seem unnecessary. It serves as a prequel and is actually based on drafts written by Mario Puzo.

@@chandie5298everything is not about race or sex. You don't see these types of movies now because many people are dumbed down on historical fictional tales. Inclusivity would have nothing to do with a film of this genre. Plenty of films are made that are not inclusive. Count how many times you see a main character who is non white. This is ironic because in the Godfather books, that was a theme the Italians didn't consider themselves as white like an Anglo. They were just Italian that was their culture. Most nations define themselves according to their culture. America is different because it is so diverse which is one of its strengths but there's this thing that happens where one group thinks it's superior to other groups. Italians & Irish weren't accepted into the greater Anglo white community until JFK became President. Italians really after the Godfather. Many white Americans looked at Italians in the same way people look at Mexicans today. Ironic

In the book. Vito Corleone took out Fanucci because he didn't want to be harassed or exploited. Plus through much thought. Vito concluded that Fanucci had no connections for protection.Vito came to this conclusion when he and one of his friends and businesses partners witnessed Fanucci place a knife to the throat of the daughter of one of the merchants who would not pay him. When he did this, then the merchant paid, but Vito gained a better understanding of this phoney gangster. Therefore, when Fanucci tried to shake Vito down. Because Vito would not pay him. That's when Vito decided to kill Fanucci. Vito did not kill Fanucci in order to take over the neighborhood. After he was killed, the neighbors came to Veto to solve problems and disputes. And then his influences grew from there. He gained their respect not through force like Fanucci. But through peaceful and reasonable negotiations.

The real moment that solidified Vito's intent was when he offered Fanucci less and he accepted. Vito had grown up around true mafioso and knew that a Sicilian Don would never accept less as a sign of disrespect. Vito already had planned out the assassination, but that was when there was no turning back.

@coltonwhite2518 I think that every person who watches the Godfather. Should read the book. That is how I gained a better understanding of that history, the way they think, why they respond, and that lifestyle. The book even goes into detail about the history of the Mafia.

Дон Фануччи всегда опирался на свои словесные угрозы. У него не было реальной поддержки за спиной, он не был членом либо главарём банды, он действовал в одиночку. Вито вовремя заметил это и посчитал ненужным платить дань такой выскочке... Don Fanucci always relied on his verbal threats. He had no real support behind him, he was not a member or leader of a gang, he acted alone. Vito noticed this in time and considered it unnecessary to pay tribute to such an upstart...

The bulb acted as a plant. You want to plant the victim in place. The same as if you flatten a guys tire and wait for him. As for parallel action, Michael Corleone did it in Godfather II, when he was baptizing his kid and killing rivals at the same time. Im sure its nothiing new in filmmaking, but i enjoyed it.

My favorite moment in the series the offer (a series about the making of the Godfather) is when the mobsters watch the movie for the first time at the premiere. They’re all fascinated and at the end have a huge standing ovation.

@terrabyte Fanucci was not a member of the "Black Hand". He simply SAID he was and ACTED like he was, and everyone simply believed it was true until Vito pieced together that he was just a fraud. Therefore, Vito knew there would be no one coming to avenge Fannuci's murder.
