@Omn1Media Interesting Fact: The "voice" of the "Little Floof" that gets torn apart by Fey Plants at the beginning of this episode? That's Dagon, Matt and Marisha's pet bird that passed away during the production of this Season. They recorded her when she was alive, then forgot about it after she passed away so it was quite the shock when they heard her one last time during this episode. They laughed so hard when they heard that.

Fun little factoid: "Making my way..." is a running joke in their livestream. Its absolutely hilarious they included not one, but two songs using that phrasing in this episode (play the song during the credits for the second one!) Major inside joke but it really got me. :)

Regarding Percy's knowledge about the fey realm not sticking, it's worth remembering he read about it when he was a child. And since he had things (i.e. the Briarwoods) to deal with, it's been at least 5 years since he hadn't even touched a book about it.

Also, the Fey realm is a pretty wild and chaotic place that doesn't like to be consistent, which doesn't help the very logical Percy lol.

So sorry for your loss. I sort of feel for Percy in the Fey Realm. This is the child Percy didn't really get to be. This is Percy before the trauma, in all his childlike joy. I really sympathize with this glimpse into who he could've been. And just like a child, he gets a lot of things wrong. As far as Grog? He's had all his strength drained out of him by the sword. So his whole body is fucked up. My theory about the Fey Realm hating him isn't just the vestige or just him. He's now the representative of death in a Realm full of life. He's like a neon sign of danger to the realm.

We have seen Percy's lightning gauntlet known as Diplomacy before near the end of S1 EP12 just before he puts his glove back on. Like many of Percy's inventions it can be a bit buggy but when it works, it WORKS.

Garmelie, himself is walking pun. There is a Greek tradition known as a “satyr play.” They of were featured at the end of tragedies to balance out the melancholy by making fun of various subjects. The concept survives as “satire.”

16:08 i also teared up at this moment bc it instilled a gut feeling that vax is going to die by the end of the series, like this cloud of dread was looming over him. i’ve never watched the campaign so idk if he really does die but i see vax’s arc this season to be him mourning and then accepting the loss of control over his life and for some reason it hits me hard. i loved him in the first season but this one firmly cemented him as my favorite, i absolutely adore tragic characters.

24:34 you would have seen a little glimpse of it in the season one finale when Percy was in his workshop. the green gem on his hand before he pulled a glove on. It was super easy to miss, honestly it was mostly for people who've watched the campaign so we could go, YAY! I KNOW A THING!!!!

That's a good point about the Matron of Ravens and the Fey Realm. She must hate the fey realm and is trying to make him leave it, which is why the creatures are targeting him.

The best story telling is "escapism" but the best story telling isn't really escape; it's the human ability to observe it's situation from slightly outside and buffer it, to use the escape to try to process real life. We cry tears for fictional characters because it helps us cry for those we love. Be well.

Yeah, the sword definitely was a thing for longer in the campaign, because they had more time to tell the story. Here they're cutting out all kinds of stuff and swapping things around and compressing things so the sword story sort of got the short stick. Which is too bad because it's really cool, but they got the important elements in there and I totally get why they have to prioritize certain things, having watched all the campaigns I can see exactly what they're doing and why. And the sword had to be gone before they got to a certain story beat so their hands were tied, they couldn't fudge it like they can with some other things, it's a fundamental aspect of the story. I personally wouldn't mind 57 seasons of Vox Machina the animated series but I feel like some of the animators might die of stress so here we are lol.

Grog lost Craven Edge right after the Sphynx's lair when it killed him, so the timing is right. But there were more episodes in between. 13 multi-hour episodes instead of 6 23 minute episodes. And yet...about the same amount of story's worth. A little less, but not much less.

In the original, the group was together and they banished Craven Edge after it killed Grog. Destroying it was an option that they briefly entertained. I like to think this is a decent representation of the kind of curse an evil minded intelligent weapon would bestow if its wielder managed to destroy it.

great episode! I like the way they did the Grog/ Craven Edge here versus in the campaign. Originally, Grog got the sword to its "full" status by draining enough blood (strength) from enemies and not sleeping. After Pike gets stabbed, he finally rests, and the "cursed" part of the sword activates, killing Grog. They are able to revive him, and afterwards, decide to banish the sword to another realm (a realm they fought in pre stream of the campaign). Actually destroying the sword here and Grog getting cursed with enfeeblement works better.

Well the Matron of Ravens (or the Raven Queen) is part of the Shadowfell if I’m not mistaken, the polar opposite of the Fey Realm. Naturally the land is not gonna be happy about such a presence.
@ShadowyFox_86 Жыл бұрын
Exactly. I've seen theories that they're literally mirrors to one another. That the Fey Realm is almost purely life energy while the Shadowfell is necrotic, they view anything from the other as immediately a potential threat and try to eliminate it.
