OMPHobby M2 EVO | First Flights and Impressions

First few flights and thoughts on the M2 EVO. This flying space is really bad with the trees in the background and it's especially bad in the fall when all the green goes away. Will get out to a more appropriate flying spot and push her a bit harder soon.

Thank you for the videos. You are a very good heli pilot. I have two M2's and just ordered the M2 Evo. I have been flying heli's on and off for 34 years and really want to improve my skills. I like slower 3d because i can't react fast enough to fly hard 3d. The heli's I started with were prehistoric compared to today. It took me 6 months to learn hovering. Had to mail order parts from CA every time i crashed which was often. No simulator to help me so i was on my own but never gave up.

What do you recommend for bust bang for the buck RTF micro? I was thinking the S3..? Im intermediate

Bang for buck is hard to describe. There's also lots of different sizes so it's hard to compare one to another. The Nano S3 is a totally different, much smaller heli than even the M1. It's the only heli I'd try to fly in my living room, but any space much bigger than that (such as a gymnasium or your backyard) the M1 is a much better choice.

@@BladeScraper Thanks alot for the reply, I forgot to mention micro as in "in-door" with our vaulted ceilings I always enjoyed the walmart RTF years ago but hated how limiting in maneuver/power they were. I think Im going to go with the s3 RTF. Sometime down the road when im ready to get back into planes Ill be able to go BNF stuff but dont want to invest in transmitters for this purchase. Just looking for a quick cheap but fun indoor/outdoor.

In the end u got it. I never saw someone buy the white version. I only saw a lot of yellow ones, is it because the white is hard to see in the sky?

I did an experiment with my T-Rex 500 ESP 3G around about 2014~2015 with a white canopy. I found that it was objectively a lot harder to see than his original canopy (which is dominantly yellow & black, aside of the red, blue, & checkerflag stripes). It was even harder to see, when there were clouds in the sky - Even worse when flying on overcast days. At that point, the helicopter was blending in with the sky. I would wager that the size of the aircraft also comes into it. Both the M1 & M2 are pretty hard to see, to begin with. With a white canopy, that's just made it twice as difficult to see. That would be why you're seeing most folks with the fluorescent yellow - It's easier to see, especially for older pilots. As for me, I am red/green colorblind. Anything that's either red or orange (including fluorescent orange), the very second there's foliage in the background, I start perceiving the entire aircraft as a black silhouette & I ultimately lose sight of it.

Yes the white I would say is harder to see than the other colors, but it also depends on the background and sky type. I flew my M1, smaller heli and same color scheme in a better suited place and had an easier time seeing it than the M2 in this location. But yes, the white is definitely not as visible as some of the other colors. I simply chose it because I think it looks cool :P
