Vult Modules Series - Dopamine Neural Tape

A few days ago, Vult released a new collection of modules, the Vult Mysteries. For now, there are 2 modules in this collection, and in this video, we will explore Dopamine, a sort of a sequence recorder and mangler that can add lots of movement and variation to your patches.

It reminds me sort of a Turing Machine where you can add uncertainty to a sequence. But, unlike the Turing machine, you can get back to the original sequence.

What I find intriguing in this module is that, accordingly to Leonardo, a learning AI process is used to write pseudo random sequences! That's like playing with a little "sentient" artificial creature! Isn't it thrilling? 😍

Thanks for the demo Omri! This module is definately right up my street. It sort of reminds me of a ML:Evolution on steroids, and that aint too bad :-) It's going to take some practice though. It's not entirely clear how the feed acts together with record, for example, but I'll do some manual reading. In your last example of using it for recording and playing back modulation, I would probably put a slew limiter after the CV out of Dopamine since the playback is clearly stepped.

Thanks, Lars! Yes, it is stepped because it will sample the voltage whenever it receives a clock, just like s&h so the faster the clock, the higher the resolution, but I chose to leave it that way to emphasize the repetitive pattern of the recording, and what Dopamine is adding to it. The feed will feedback what is played by Dopamine so it will actually record itself. But yeah, experimenting with this one is key...

Well, I don't know about the best but there are many ways you can do something similar. Try also using Fate from the Geodesics which will also add some randomness to a sequence.

I'm looking for a solution to loop audio from my external synths into vcv rack like it works in ableton and mangle them there too is this the right module for that ?

This can totally work for you, yes. You can also try using the samplers from nysthi which can also record cv.
