The troops don't work like this. Dorothy is matriarch of her family. She can do what she wants. The higher-ups within the troop won't do anything to stop Dorothy no matter how many of Dorty's babies she kills.

Daphny is the only grand baby to survive Dorothy. This little guy and Beany not so lucky.

Sometimes sterilization has negative consequences. It doesn’t remove the maternal drive of the female. This is part of the reason you see low ranking females being really clingy to their little ones. If a higher ranking female doesn’t have a baby for whatever reason and feels the need for one they could potentially take one from the lower ranking female. The monkey doesn’t understand it doesn’t have the ability to nurse the baby anymore even though they still feel the drive to have a baby to care for. Sterilizing high ranking females is just a bad idea. You always see the low ranking females with a baby keeping away from the main group and really keeping a tight hand on them at least until they are much older than the higher ranking mothers. It’s really unfortunate she pulled rank on her own daughter and ultimately caused the death of her own grand baby. It’s rather self defeating to her own bloodline. Hopefully the mother has experienced this enough times to know next time to stay far away from her own mother after giving birth to try and prevent this from happening again.

In a recent video Dorothy was eyeing the baby in Dorty's arms. AM commented he thought this was over with. I commented no she was not. The way she was looking at the baby was as if she was calculating how she was going to get the baby from Dorty. Daphney was underweight and starving anytime she was in a video. If she had access to food she was shoving the food in. I'm surprised she survived. But I'm not surprised this one died. This is the same as in Lowina's troop.

Unfortunately this is true. I don’t think Dorothy will ever get over her obsession and it has ended up costing the lives of two precious little ones.😭 I do feel bad for her, it’s the human intervention that has caused several females to kidnap other’s babies and they die when their mothers can’t get them back.😔🥹 It just makes me sick to my stomach.😢

Yes. I'm thinking it looks like the two babies died from a fall while having a tussle. In my mind Dorothy knows that when a baby is up on the trees the mum will relinquish it more easily because she cannot run away, and the danger posed to the baby. If Dorty doesn't let go it's very easy for one of them to lose grip on the babe. Hence the two casualties.

The sister in Lowina's troop has never had a baby of her own, unlike Dorothy, honestly I cannot tell which one is more severe... And now the other sister just had a baby so I guess will wait on that one. I predict she'll get that baby too.

As I understand it, the population of macaques grows due to sufficient nutrition from the side of humans and also necessary sterilization from the side of humans, since with such saturation the reproduction of macaques can be catastrophic for the same people. It's always like that, for someone our actions are evil, and for others good, such a dilemma.

Dorothy wasn't spayed. She is going thru menopause. Natural progression. She still needs to keep her paws off her grandkids. She was able to nurse one of her kidnapped grandkids for enough time to allow the kid to survive. But now she seems to grab all of Dorty's babies. She tries/wants them to nurse. But a baby will typically only nurse a female that's not her mom if the baby is desperate.

we don't know what happen but for know, I will blame Dorty for not keeping a solid grip on her new baby. She know how her mother is obsessed. She should really try to get away as far as possible from her creasy mother. Sorry if I sound harsh.

This group usually has a low ‘violent crime’ rate. So far, we’ve seen two babies starved to death-one of them snatched and now another limp corpse. Seems like an abnormally large percentage given how king this group is to one another (notwithstanding the archaic hierarchy system). Why are these events seeming to increase? Are they on a path that looks eerily similar to that of the troubled long-tails of Ankur?

2 separate troops: May 2022 - a baby starved to death by an aunt- Löwina's troop June 2022 - a baby likely died from a fall by a kidnapping grandmum - Bossy's troop ( aka our gang ) The common denominator is that the perpetrator is a sterilized female. It's really our fault with our ill-thought-out laparoscopic sterilization program that doesn't weigh in the psychological impact on these cousins closely related to us.

It don’t matter how much she yearns for a baby she knows it’s wrong or she wouldn’t just steal ones from her daughter . She was lucky to have milk with the last one but I’m thinking the rest she steals from here on out with perish . Unless her daughter fights her own mom to start protecting her own babies. We have all seen moms protect their babies no matter what.

I hate to say it this way but, It's life in the wild. Wild animals are different than humans. Although these guys are a lot like us, they aren't us. I do hope it doesn't happen again. Perhaps she smells the baby? And it could smell like her because of it being her grandkids. So she thinks in her mind that it's hers. Good possibility.

She is so much bigger than almost all the females, especially dorty, and not at all obese. So if Dorothy is determined, it's hard to see her not getting her way. What a punch in the crotch. Mother Nature will sort it out in whatever way she sees fit. That doesn't make it any easier. Big sad.

It's tragic to see a baby boy die after its first week of life. Although Mother Nature can be cruel, I think Dorothy is partly at fault for wresting the baby away from his Mum Dorty. As a result of the tussle, the baby monkey probably fell out of the tree and was killed in the fall. This, of course, is just my theory as to what may have occurred. 🙉🙈🙊🇬🇧🐨💙💛💔💔💞
